Melatonin in "Time release" form and Tryptophan have been shown to help with sleeping through, and prolonging sleep time.

However, when I take either of these (Melatonin 1mg TR, or 500mg Tryptophan) I experience the opposite:

I sleep for 3-4 hours and then I wake up and can't go back to sleep anymore.

But I'm still exhausted and definetly not fit, however I feel really pumped up and motivated like Popeye on spinach.

I don't get this from Melatonin instant release(100µ to 1mg). So IR helps me sleep through the night and TR just disrupts and inhibits my sleep.

What is wrong with me? :)

Has anyone experienced the same?

Does this give a clue to some medical condition I might have?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Is it with vitamin B6? I react in the same way to Natrol's time released melatonin, which has 10 mg vitamin B6. Supplemented GABA gives me the same reaction.

Yes exactly, it is the Natrol brand with 10mg B6. So Melatonin TR from other brands work for you?
