So in this game of longevity and transhumanism do you consider yourself elitist?

I don't. I consider myself lucky enough to have a good brain and a good approach to life that will allow me to stay younger longer, till the real break through's happen that extend our lives much further.

With the death of Leonard Nimoy recently, the guy who was the first to inspire and inform my child hood dreams I thought this a pertinent question, since Mister Nimoy was something of a humanitarian, and of course Spock was the ultra logical equivalent.

I just don't see this as an elitist movement. Even if some people do. What about you?

Why elitist? We are still very far from escape velocity and I'm 41 years old. Also, even if we had real rejuvenation treatments right now, I probably could not afford them for 15-20 years.

No I don't see this as elitist movement. I think we want to save people's lives including our own. I think we want to see good treatments at reasonable prices for all. Hopefully one day these might be even available on the NHS but the way it is at the moment we have a long long way to go.

Nope, not elitist.  I'm sure some people might think this is an elitist movement but that's largely because they don't believe we want to extend it to everyone.  There's going to be some major social issues to hammer out but we can do it if we try.

I really don't know how far we are from LE escape velocity.  New developments are happening almost every day and some of them I see as directly relevant to our cause while others look like they'll accelerate research.  Yet for all of that there is so much we can do to advance things on the social front; the more people are into it the more research money is likely to flow, be it a moderate amount or more.  I for one will not settle for anything less than optimum circumstances going forward whatever that might mean.

I don't see it as an elitist movement either, but I get the elitist stench from quite a few of our users so I decided to try and take a survey of how many of our members consider themselves such.

I rather believe this to be a humanitarian movement rather than an elitist one.

The entire purpose of longevity science is to extend not only peoples life spans but their quality of life, which would make it a humanitarian movement by default.

I agree, and once people both believe that and the fact that it's going to work I believe we're going to have a very popular movement on our hands.

Smear campains are rather distasteful. We are getting a good one covertly. Sadly the only way to fight them is ignore them. Good looks are the coin of the realm. Maybe focus on getting a few Hollywood stars to speak out? Even a youtube viral candid outtake would boost our credibility. Getting one to look the world in the eye and say it is legit and under way and look at all these proofs, That is how we speed this up.

Why transhuman? I'm happy with the way my exellent body works and responds to a simple diet. With all the processing of food I find supplementation works into old age if the nutrients are coenzymed.
I can't see any other stuff working without serious diet supplementation or having intelligence in transmutation. So far, my experience of this web site and it's members has shown me that there is no intellegence here. Everyone has lots of learning to do. For a start, very few people here have any sort of mental maturity. This shows through thier lack of respect at times, their lack of using criticism to improve, and their 'back to front mind conditioning'! Most members are ridged in their beliefs or have no real concept of what they need to do to create as a group, they seem to be enamoured with the laws of attraction.
Everyone is clever, we are all created equal, then we get conditioned, we then uncondition, where possible, only to find cooking food dissolves the essential amino acid Lycine. And everyone wonders why they get anxiety, infection, weakness, then they get told about the idea of aging, or the stupid one 'we are all dying from birth', what a phychopathic idea. I hope this post has made people stop and think. Even just a little.
Elitist are phychopathic, unless they are into intellegent sharing, which I think most are. Some like to call it a type of socialism. But with a tight control of language and media we won't see any new discriptives getting promoted.
Most people don't have wholehearted belief in Karma, they should if they want speed up change. Futurama got axed in favour of the Simpsons, why? Both are cartoons that have political ideologies pasted in a mixed up play of emotions. The days of buying into cartoons for ideas is over, they are like sitcoms and soaps, and should be laughed off, at all times or provide intriguing supposition. Don't become a play thing for someone elses goals, especially if the goals don't exist!!!

I don't get any feeling that most of the people here see themselves as superior to the masses, though some do definitely see themselves as being part of a fairly elite vanguard, which is close but not quite the same thing. There are clearly some people on the site who see themselves as superior to other users but again, it's not quite the same as being elitist.
