Thank you for your replies.
I've decided to go with Huperzine A (Source Naturals; 200mcg). Have any of you tried this, would be great to hear how it helped (or didn't) if you took it.
I'm going to be taking 1x200mcg tablet a day (with a 2 day break on weekends - is this advisable?).
Thank you
If you want an herbal solution, you may wanna try Bacopa, I think that it has the better evidence on increasing memory formation.
Bacopa monniera leaf extract up-regulates tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH2) and serotonin transporter (SERT) expression: implications in memory formation.
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/21129470
The results suggest that BMEE treatment significantly enhances the learning and retention of memory in postnatal rats possibly through regulating the expression of TPH2, 5-HT metabolism and transport.
Chronic effects of Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) on human memory.
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/12093601
The results show a significant effect of the Brahmi on a test for the retention of new information. Follow-up tests showed that the rate of learning was unaffected, suggesting that Brahmi decreases the rate of forgetting of newly acquired information.
Does Bacopa monnieri improve memory performance in older persons? Results of a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial.
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/20590480
Bacopa significantly improved memory acquisition and retention in healthy older Australians. This concurs with previous findings and traditional use.
Examining the nootropic effects of a special extract of Bacopa monniera on human cognitive functioning: 90 day double-blind placebo-controlled randomized trial.
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/18683852
The Bacopa monniera product significantly improved performance on the 'Working Memory' factor, more specifically spatial working memory accuracy.
Randomized controlled trial of standardized Bacopa monniera extract in age-associated memory impairment.
SBME is efficacious in subjects with age-associated memory impairment.
