I recently had a test done that included Vitamin K1. The normal range is 0.28 to 1.78 ng/mL, but my level was extremely high over 10 ng/mL.
I read online that K1 levels in blood serum just reflects high Vitamin K1 in the diet, and it doesn't indicate that you have a high vitamin K level. I read that you should instead get tested for osteocalcin, but I am finding many varieties of this:
1) This article talks about Modified Gla Protein (MGP):
2) This article talks about Undercarboxylated Osteocalcin:
3) Labcorp tests for just Osteocalcin, which they say is Bone Gla Protein (BGP)
I have no idea if these are all substitutes, or if one is preferred over the other.
What is the best test for Vitamin K status, and is there a cheap way to get this tested?
