Hey guys new to this site, it seemed like it had a decent amount of information but I'd like to see if anyone can address my problem specifically.

Basically I abused marijuana for a little over a year. When I stopped I had a host of problems including extreme anxiety/depression. As time went on things did not get any better so I went to a psychiatrist and she put me on several SSRI/SNRI medications that made me completely apathetic/blunted/ and all I wanted to do was sleep. She said I have a "dopamine issue" she prescribed me Aderall XR and it sort of helped but id crash very hard at the end of the day. I would describe what I'm experiencing as "Anhedonia" with a blunted emotions of some sort.

I then started researching ways to possibly repair my dopamine receptors? I'm not a medical genius by any means but have tried uridine for months, along with fish oil and multi vitamins and I'm getting absolutely nowhere.

Am I totally screwed for the rest of my life by abusing marijuana for over a year? I've never heard of anyone being affected by it this much.

To be clear it's been almost 11 months since I've quit and I'm still in the same mentality I was in since quitting.

Does anyone have any recommendations/opinions?

Medically: I'm 6"0 175lbs, 24 years old, extremely healthy, go to the gym 5 times a week and do heavy lifting. I've had a host of blood tests trying to figure out what this could be but everything has come back fine except my cortisol levels are elevated, and my testosterone was about 470, free testosterone was also fine.

How I would describe how I feel on a daily basis is literally nothing gives me pleasure at all. I have zero sex drive, find it extremely difficult to socialize because I feel there is no point (reward).

Anyways this may not be the place to rant especially since my psychiatrist has told me it's a dopamine issue however she basically said this is how I'm going to have to live (wow...).

Any feedback is appreciated!

First of all, you need to erase the idea that you've done irreverisble damage and are doomed. The anxiety from that itself will make it a self-fullfilling prophecy.

I recommend CBD (cannabidiol), a non-psychoactive cannabinoid which has the opposite effect of THC (THC is a CB1 and CB2 agonist, CBD is a CB2 inverse agonist). As THC reduces GABA, allowing for more sensory input and interconnections, CBD increases GABA. You can get it in a vape oil and get a Ego-C Twist for about $11 on ebay.

You may want to take a look at selegiline as well, but I would try the CBD first.

Thanks for the response! Would I have to vape the CBD? Can I get it in a sublingual and would it have the same effect? How long would you recommend that I use it for?. Thanks!

onescrewloose - have you found a good cost efficient and strong brand of CBD?

Until now I had one. You used to by Delta Liquid brand of CBD, which had 300mg/10ml, for $20, at ehookahbrand.com. It was the cheapest buy far. I guess they realized that, and now charge $90 for the same thing. If anyone has any suggestions for a good price on CBD, let me know.
