PROJECT OPEN SOURCE: Portal~

I am very interested in started a team work based project using google docs. It will be a research based collaborative and organized team effort in gathering and synthesizing knowledge in biochemistry for health and anti-aging.

This site has a lot of information, but it is scattered all about.. My purpose on Project Open Source is similar to what Wikipedia does; organize information so you don't have to spend hours scavenging for it- Also this will benefit anyone.

Think about all the times you were looking for something you couldn't find, but then you went on Wikipedia and you found references, sources, links- basically everything there is to know about that subject.

This will be like Wikipedia- for extensive health and anti-aging knowledge. I'm interested in things similar we did in college, writing a thesis and including sources for a research paper. It would be wonderful if everyone wrote research papers on specific biochemistry compounds and molecular compounds... nutrition, lifestyle changes that contribute to anti-aging wouldn't it?

I know some of you will not be interested in this, but this is directed mainly towards those who enjoy finding information and writing, and in general being nerd like I am, lol just kidding.

Google docs is great because one or more person can work on a document in real time.

Private message me or comment below if you are interested and we can decide a topic to research and we each can gather as much information as possible. The whole purpose of this is to gather knowledge for the benefit of everyone who is interested in health and anti-aging- and to gather extensive knowledge in general with a thesis and hypothesis with further research.

Not a bad idea, I'd like to see it run under the LC umbrella or as a nonprofit (assuming it is ad supported). Is that what you had in mind?

I'd like to give it a test run via a platform like googlewave if you remember what that was (it got shut down 2010)- I'm not sure what an LC umbrella is but i'm open to possibilities.

I got one person message me and it's possible we can start a section on 23 & Me and various disorders. Right now I need at least one other person so we can get started on our first research project to really get this thing going.

LongeCity's Umbrella would mean it would be a site operated on the LongeCity infrastructure and the site would raise money for our budget and link to our forum discussions etc to keep the user here.

Is this research thing on 23andme? I'm not familiar with how that works or what you need from me.

That's an excellent idea! I never thought of that, I personally have no programming experience but maybe someone here does and would like to help me get this idea on a site? (Message me or comment here)

Project portal will have a section that includes peoples experiences with 23&me results, and disorders like Anxiety, depression, OCD and physical disorders. Or generally just a basic index of information.

Since theres no site (yet) I started a preliminary site on Bitrix24 which is like google wave, where users work on collaborative documents in real time.

If anyone is interested in joining Project Portal research then comment\pm your email so I can invite you.

And YOLF, if you know any programmers that would be willing to help that would be great so we can actually get funding started. I think this idea will kick off well! I just want the database to be really interactive and simple to use for the average daily user at the minimum.

LongeCity is looking for programmers to help out around the site with limited success but it's not overly hard to setup a wiki... it's out of the box software and costs less than $100/yr to get hosting for. Then there are plugins that allow advertising to be set into the wiki. We could get a grant from LC and hire the programmers we need for the specific jobs. It shouldn't cost too much... we might even be able to do this as a fundraiser. I think something like this would be a great asset to the community if we get moving on project youthification as it will give the community more to work for as a part of their contribution.

Yeah I just want a futuristic database with realistic animations and so on, where users can access a lot of information and indexes with organized information. Sort of like a wiki, but I think it will look a lot more appealing if a programmer makes it. I can draw out my ideas if that would help- I think it will be a realy cool feature or addition to longecity to have that sort of interaction. I just need people to join my bitrix24 for now so we can work on collaborations then import them to the Project Portal site once its steady and running!

I've been thinking about learning some comp sci stuff to get started with learning more... I'm seeing what you're talking about though... I'm not sure how long or how much study it would take to get what I'd want out of it if I made this my ongoing learning project or how likely I am to stick with it to completion. But I'd want it to be accessible by everyone, not just those who can query. I'm thinking we'd need something like that german app/AI that writes articles for wikipedia. Maybe a better idea would be to get some support from them for this project?

Great idea! I think artificial intelligence should play a part on this like you mentioned- ill contact the german app makers you mentioned. I'll do a few sketches and upload them to get the general concept on here and show them to the app makers.. I'm not sure how much they'll charge, but it will be worth it.

I can do programming if you need help.

BTW:

Similar project ideas in the topic here:

Singularity wiki

Maybe the two projects could be united into one, let's say a Transhumanist - Futurist wiki project,

with different sections, such as: Transhumanism, Futurism, Biology, Medicine, Pharma, Supplements, Cybernetics, Biotech, and the like.

That would be excellent! I'm loving these ideas so far guys.. I'll read more into that forum as soon as I can. I have a sketch already made to show you Avatar of Horus. I'd love to work with you to make this possible! I just have some more ideas coming, i'll write down as much as I can they keep coming !
