Hi,

I haven't been on Longecity for quite some time as I have not been using internet for quite a time, but I'm back now!

I was curious as to any advise some person(s) could give me in relation to supplements, or other methods of increasing my memory.

I have previously taken the 'braverman' test, and I do realise that there is the possibility that it is not 100% correct, although while I took this test I noted that a lot of the questions regarding being GABA deficit were very relevant to me. In fact every question relating to memory and attention in the GABA category I answered True to(which is seemingly not good). This is the direct action which is stemming to my belief of this being caused by a general lack of gaba in my brain. I realise this is a very generalised view and probably hard for any one person to associate this to a specific supplement or method of fixing it, but any help is appreciated.

Now I am not sure if who ever is reading this is aware of the braverman test. But regardless I am looking for some sort of help dealing with problems of retaining memory. I have been looking for things that will inhibit gaba, although at the current moment of my life I only really have 1-2 hours a week in which I have free time to study these sorts of things. And out of all the Message boards on the internet relating to these sorts of things, I feel that Longecity is the most concise.

If anybody has had similar memory problems from an assumed lack of gaba, I would appreciate any help! :)

Thank you in advance.

Edit This is attributed to my theory of lack of gaba attributing to my memory difficulties.

"GABA(A) receptors mediate the majority of fast synaptic inhibition in the mammalian brain. Mechanisms that regulate GABA(A) function are thus of critical importance in modulating overall synaptic inhibition. Phosphorylation of GABA(A) receptor subunits is one such mechanism that leads to the dynamic modulation of GABA(A) receptor function. In particular, phosphorylation of tyrosine residues 365 and 367 (Y365, Y367) within the gamma2 subunit of GABA(A) receptors has been shown in previous in vitro studies to negatively regulate clathrin-dependent endocytosis of GABA(A) receptors and to enhance the efficacy of synaptic inhibition. With the aim of investigating the impact of this phosphorylation-dependent modulation of GABA(A) receptors on animal behavior, we recently developed a knock-in mouse in which these critical tyrosine residues within the gamma2 subunit have been mutated to phenylalanines (Y365/7F). These animals exhibited enhanced GABA(A) receptor accumulation at postsynaptic inhibitory synaptic specializations on pyramidal neurons within the hippocampus, primarily due to aberrant trafficking within the endocytic pathway. We found that this enhanced inhibition correlated with a specific deficit in spatial memory in these mice, without modifying a number of other behavioral paradigms. Here, we summarize our recently reported observations and further discuss their possible implications." - http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/20585515

I was also wondering the best sources to search around for this sort of thing? I typically only look at Pubmed or occasionally whatever studies pops up on google.

(more details to help you help me, I'm vegetarian) I currently taking the following supplements/medications :

1 per day High potency vegan multivitamin (healthy essentials)

4-6 Flaxseed oil tablets - one pill - 1g ; Equiv Linolenic acid (omega-3) 575mg Equiv Linoleic acid (omega-6) 175mg Equiv Oleic acid (omega9) 175mg

Atorvastatin  1 Tablet 10mg ( statin for cholesterol )

Isotretinoin 2 x 2mg ( acne medication i will soon be rid of )

I Hope some of that information helps.

If no one has any ideas of why my memory isnt optimal, maybe they could offer a good gaba inhibitor ? or something with memory ( excluding Bacopa which ive taken previously for long periods but did not see a highly effective reaction) I also am unable to import Lions Mane into my country for some reason due to shipping.
