Its said that mTOR is overactive in people with ASD.

The natural flavonoid luteolin inhibits mTOR, mast cells and microglia and could have a significant benefit in ASD.

Its a good AGE blocker, which may be why it has said effect on mTOR:

I just have a hard time believing any one supplement could have a pronounced effect on such a wide variety of symptoms and functionalities-- there's a reason Autism is a Spectrum.

That said, since I happen to know of a reasonable and reliable source of Luteolin I think I'll give it a test run.

I think blocking/breaking AGEs has/would have MANY positive downstream effects.

Luteolin seems to be unique in its ability to block all 3 stages of AGE formation?
That makes it a very interesting compound IMHO.

WIKI:
Luteolin can be found in Terminalia chebula or Haritaki, a major constituent of several traditional Ayurvedic medicines. Luteolin is most often found in leaves, but it is also seen in rinds, barks, clover blossom, and ragweed pollen.[1] It has also been isolated from the aromatic flowering plant, Salvia tomentosa in mint family Lamiaceae.[2]

Dietary sources include celery, broccoli, green pepper, parsley, thyme, dandelion, perilla, chamomile tea, carrots, olive oil, peppermint, rosemary, navel oranges, and oregano.[3][4] It can also be found in the seeds of the palm Aiphanes aculeata.[5]

Several studies have been carried out on the beneficial effects of Luteolin with positive results. Studies show that luteolin activates the dopamine transporter which is involved in regulating the amount of dopamine in the neuronal synapse
