The title is a bit misleading. From the article it seems they've been looking for an agent that can reverse the aging of the brain to treat Alzheimers specifically, not that they stumbled upon the properties of it on accident.

The press materials don't mention that this ran on SAMP8 accelerated aging mice. Take the results with a grain of salt.

Goes to show the article is just as misleading as the title.
