Good evening. I hope this is ok to post here. I've been trying to find purple reishi mushroom for sale for some time. I'm hoping to find it in powder form in bulk. I have seen it as a liquid on amazon but otherwise all I find is red. I have read that purple is more of a kidney tonic than a heart tonic. Can anyone help guide me to this elusive purple form.I've looked everywhere. Even in a reishi Facebook group! A woman said she had it, sent me an invoice and it was for red reishi .I have even seen a product on Amazon that has purple and red and yellow and in but not just purple.I would really appreciate any advisement. Thanks!

Red Reishi is believed to be the most powerful of the different types/

As far as I'm aware, Dragon Herbs has the only purple reishi I've seen. I've used it and it was quite tasty, you can usually find it cheaper though iHerb or Amazon.

If you're looking for bulk, I'd suggest buying bulk reishi powder that includes reishi spores, which are also supposed to have more of a kidney-tonifying effect. Jing Herbs sells it in bulk, as does Primal Herbs I believe.

Further, you could always buy bulk dual extracted reishi extract, and then add kidney tonifying herbs such as rehmannia, he shou wu, cistanche, etc.

You should not choose ground-up powders, because non-extracted fungal/mushroom products are undigestible for most people.

Many sellers are trying to make you believe they are selling extracts while they're just offering powder without any specification. Aloha Medicinals e.g. are offering e.g. cheap mushroom supplements including one with purple Reishi, but without exception all of these are just powder. On top of that, most are not even 'mushroom' ( meaning fruiting body-based) but mycelium grown on grains. These are not only indigestible but also contain a lot of starch from the undigested grains / rice. They will stimulate your bowels, but that's about it.

See this link for the background. It's the common bioavailability issue. Another, similar link is dedicated to reishi supplements in particular though purple reishi is not mentioned.

Thanks for those links Vlad! Good information there. I'm not at all surprised at the accuracy of the claims on various reishi being less than true. Goingprimal, I have read some where that purple reishi effects the joints and kidneys more than other areas of the body, ever heard that ? Has your experience with it been notably different than red? It seems odd to me that several sources speak of the purple like its so great and unique and coveted yet I would think I could find it easier.I can't seem to find any powders just that liquid you mentioned. I was excited to try it as red reishi has been calming for me and helps me sleep well, though I had what felt like a bad anxiety attack with it once. Had drank a couple cups of coffee and taken four grams. Wonder why that happened.

Interesting about the anxiety aspect. In all honesty no, I didn't feel any difference using it than with regular reishi. Worth the slight price increase? Maybe, but I can't say I noticed a difference from it, which isn't to say it isn't doing something extra under the radar.

Is it possible reishi slows the clearance of caffeine from the body? I have heard that reishi lowers cortisol and if that's true maybe the caffeine competed with that somehow?
