I will be working at Taco Bell this coming Tuesday. I am 18, but this is my very first job. I will be starting out on register. I am very terrible at math, and I have social anxiety. Currently, I am taking tianeptine 60mg, coluracetam 6mg-12mg, Sam-E 200mg, b-complex, and 5-HTP 100mg.

I have gone to the Taco Bell many times while my fiancé worked. He works on night shift, and I will be working day shift. I have helped them clean the lobby several times.

My questions are:

- The registers use thumbprint ID to sign in, so naturally they have a touch screen register. I assume they automatically calculate change for you?

- I am bad about having incorrect change, so any advice there?

- I have an idea of what I'm suppose to say to customers and to make eye contact, but I'm afraid of talking to people using eye contact. Advice on that?

- Any other advice or your own personal experience is much appreciated.

I’m very confident that I can help you through this. However, it will require that I convey a lot of complicated and lengthy information to you. Right now I just don’t have time, as I am moving to Portland on Tuesday and am very busy packing as much as I possibly can myself to avoid having to pay extra for packing services. I will try to get back to you tonight with some preliminary recommendations. Right now I have to make use of what available daylight I have. One word of advice: DO NOT let them intimidate you over this. You have a considerable amount of protection via the ADA, and I can provide detailed citations to back this up in the event that they give you grief because you “don’t smile enough” or appear distant or aloof. Yum! Brands has an established and deeply embedded culture of tolerating shady business practices on the part of their individual franchisees. I’ve successfully sued them, and I can assure you that if issues arise you will have a long and protracted battle ahead of you if you attempt to assert your rights as an employee. Do not let that discourage you; I can and will guide you through this. You are not alone, and you are not powerless.
