Nevertheless, it looks like an unwinnable game of whack-a-mole, attempting to counter each successive mutation as it occurs. Merely monitoring the patient for such mutations would be financially onerous if not intractable, so to be sure, this is merely a stalling tactic which might allow some patients to survive until they figure out a more direct approach, such as 3-bromopyruvate.
