Does cytoplasmic transfer affect the expression of nuclear DNA?

Between 1996 and 2001/02 17 babies were born as a result of cytoplasmic/mitochondrial transfer.

 

Would such a procedure affect expression of nuclear DNA in any way, or is it akin only to "changing the battery pack" of the egg cell? I know nuclear DNA and mtDNA interchange a lot of information.
