Hey There,

I seem to be very unlucky when it comes to my genes, I have the following mutations diagonsed by Genetic Genie and they seem to basically mirror each other and not sure how to treat myself propably. I also seem to have a mutation that makes

it pretty likely that I have Heritery Fructose Intolerance (yikes!) which makes the whole thing even more complicated.

Maybe somebody can help me out here, because the COMT mutations seems to suggest that I should avoid Methyl B12 (the active form found in Eggs, Diary and Meat) and Methyl donors, while the  MTHFR says I should avoid folic acid , which is mostly in green veggies, which is the only thing I'm supposed to eat since I shouldn't eat any fructose

So I'm having a hart time since a lot of them say to encourage B12 and the others say to avoid B12, same with the methyl stuff. My head is really spinning here... maybe somebody can take a look at this and give me some sound advice.

So far I have detectable low levels of Vit D and Iron

The folate in green vegies is not a problem, it is the folic acid used to fortify flour, except for some organic ones.  Supplementing with tetrahydro-folate should prove helpful, but be careful to first establish a tolerance.  Some genetic combinations may become hyper, or depressed, initially.  The amount of methyl B-12 in foods is not likely to be a problem, but if you supplement with B-12 use the the non-methylated form.   Fructose intolerance?  Everyone is fructose intolerant to a degree, it raises triglycerides.  Not a problem with normal amounts of fruits, which have enough fiber to ameliorate the effects, but industrial foods like soda or most supermarket bread cookies and crackers usually have it added.  Sugar (sucrose) is half fructose so avoid it..  Stick to organic breads, crackers which mostly don't have fructose or folic acid added, but read labels.  This should be  a good start.

I'm not familiar with your exact combination,  so cannot offer more specific advice.  And take genetic genie with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the pointers max. Just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly - folic acid is a synth. version of L-5-MTHF which is in foods and which I can't convert to foliac acid (tetrahydro-folate) due to my imparment of MTHFR A1298C. correct?

Sadly Fructose intolerance seems to be much of a bigger deal than Fructose Malabsorbtion. HFI means fructose will damage your liver and kidneys instead of causing bloating.

Folic acid is converted to methytetrahydrofolate by an enzyme.  Your enzyme (and half the population) have an inefficient form of the enzyme.  Heterozygous, 60% as efficient, homozygous 30%.  So you process it, but more slowly, and the excess folic acid hangs around, perhaps contributing to heart problems etc.  So you'd be wise to avoid fortified foods, but I wouldn't worry about what naturally occurs in food.

Yeah, fructose sucks.  Stick to berries mostly for fruit, and no industrially manufactured foods with added fructose or sugar.  Easier than it sounds.

One more question: My Nutrihack report says to stock up on L-methylfolate and avoid folate and folinic acid. I just bought a pack of Pure Folate 400, which is Metafolin (Calcium-L-Methylfolat).

Is this the right one for me to take in small doses? Just a little confused because it's called Folate.

Thanks!
