I stumbled across these articles:
Tyrosine promotes oxidative stress in cerebral cortex, stimulates DNA damage in cerebral cortex, and decreases enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant defense: http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/18602789
Excess dietary tyrosine causes hypercholesterolemia. Stimulated synthesis of cholesterol is a main reason why excess dietary tyrosine leads to hypercholesterolemia: http://www.ncbi.nlm..../pubmed/2213243
After 3 weeks of experimental feeding, there was significant increase in total postprandial serum cholesterol of rats fed with graded of tyrosine when compared with the normal control. There was significant decrease (HDL) in week 2 of rats fed with the different graded doses of the tyrosine meal when compared with the normal control group. In addition, significant increase was also observed in the low density lipoprotein (LDL) as compared to the control after week 2 and 3 of tyrosine meal treatment: http://www.academicj...ct/C2A00F845066
Does tyrosine supplementation increase oxidative stress in the brain or increase cholesterol? Would NALT be preferred for avoiding these potential issues?
