I think unless the farmer were deliberately saturating his plants in aluminum and lead, that the polypheonls and theanine would more than offset any pro-dementia effects of the heavy metals.

As for fluoride, fluoridosis isn't even a very detrimental condition... it's genrally fully recoverable. And stop bossing me around, worry about policing your own self. Your just defensive because evidence is pouring in that certain natural compounds are just as effective as your precious nsi, admit it

There's really no point trying to make a case that EGCG is not so hot and all the metals in green tea are poisoning us. All that matters is whether the net effect of drinking green tea is healthy or not, and all evidence points to yes. If you find any studies showing that drinking green tea causes detectable health problems in real life, I'd certainly be interested in reviewing them.

The one downside that has been documented is that consuming enormous quantities of EGCG (something on the order of 20-100 cups of tea daily daily) has in a few cases caused serious liver toxicity. However this does not appear to be related to any contaminants, just to the effects of very high dose EGCG.

BTW, not trying to be argumentative but I did check sources and I found 2 different numbers reported for the half-life of EGCG in humans: 5 hours and 3.4 hours. Not 1 hour.

green tea can accumulate quite few toxic materials including but not limited to fluoride, heavy metals, radioactive isotopes ...accumilation of heavy metals of all types (arsenic, lead and cadmium are widely found in all teas) and various toxins which might have half life of 1 day to months and years even!

edit: dear lord i did some research on heavy metals in tea and im shocked, its worse than i thought ill probably make a whole thread of this in the future this is some serious problem considering 90% of americans consume tea and they arent getting any healthier something must be up here. it will be controversial but ill see to it

Since generally starting supplementing (Green Tee extract too) 7 years ago, I monitored my hair tissue mineral accumulations.

Lead and Arsenic remained the same.
Cadmium and Aluminium has been halved.
Of Mercury only a quater remained from 7 years ago.
Also all other toxic minerals: Strontium, Nickel, Barium and Titanium decreased 1/3 to about 1/2. However, all from within the normal range

The only toxic mineral which increased since 2 years ago only, was Uranium. And since last year also above the normal range. Being such an out-lier (in it's increase, as well as only increasing since 2 years), other causes (than Green Tea, or the many Aryurvedics powders taken) are much more likely. Like pollution from Fukushima, or my yearly vacation 20 miles close to an Indian sea-side atomic power-plant with incidences in the past.

One large confounding factor could be my high dose vitamin C regimen, which is known to decrease toxic accumulations. And the increased use of organic food.

Fluoride is a recognized neurotoxin. It does a lot more damage than fluoridosis!

the brain is more resilient than you lead readers to believe. even in communities where fluoridosis is rampant, rates of retardation are not alarmingly higher than neighboring communities.

also, EGCG and theanine are known neuroprotectants, which have more research behind them than newer RCs.

last point I want to make, japanese tea has under 1ppm. and when I make it with my spring water it comes out to 1.1ppm... which is only slightly more than most tap water, and I only have 2 cups in a day. probably I get most of my fluoride from fish and dairy, not tea or water.

but i do very much appreciate your concern and guidance, I know you mean well
