So I suffer from anhedonia and as most of you know it severely reduces one's ability to feel pleasure and also really

reduces cognitive capacity to the point of almost absolute dullness. For me, I don't even have the mental energy to think.

Anyway, stimulants realllllly increase my ability to think and feel pleasure of course. Mostly, adderall and modafinil. Adderall increases

cognitive capacity, ability to feel pleasure, humor, etc. Modafinil doesn't quite increase my ability to increase pleasure like adderall does or gives me much personality  but it reallly boosts my cognitive capacity. I think much clearer on it, a drug has never made me feel smarter. What would you guys suspect

is causing such a large increase in cognitive capacity ? And what else do yall think that I could take that would give me the same effect. I dont

want to keep on taking modafinil as it will of course worse my anhedonia in the long run.

Which mechanism of action(s) of modafinil would you guys say gives the anti-depressant and cognitive boosting effect? Or even the anti-depressing effect could be what's responsible for the huge boost in cognition for me. I actually feel alive on modafinil, off modafinil i feel like I'm a walking zombie just passing through life and not giving a fuck about anything. I really wonder what it's doing to my brain to give me such profound effects. I think it maybe a glutamate issue, because unlike adderall, modafinil improves cognition in schizophrenia and I think largely that schizophrenics have nmda/ glutamate issues with too much dopamine. I'm sure i have low dopamine tho

Please someone help me out and answer.

Generally speaking, the real and exact Modafinil's mechanism of actions in *humans* are unknown!

But its DAT inhibition and the Histamine level increasing in hypothalamus are its important wakefulness-promoting and anti-depressant actions
