So is trying such a thing futile? Can I plan to gain any muscle at all? My methionine will also be restricted at roughly 40 grams of complete protein per day. Are these efforts going to fail. I am getting more than 100 RDA of everything I need.

Is the only way to make this work intermittent fasting where on days I do not fast, I can choose to not restrict methionine much? I am 24 and a half and male. Just wondering of it is at all possible to chase these anti aging benefits of CR but also feel like a man ... through gaining muscle of course

In order to gain muscles you need a surplus of calories, period.

Micro and macro nutrients are not the point, if you are in a calories deficit there is no way you'll be able to gain, you can loose fat, of course, if you are really smart you might not loose too much muscles... but not gain them, at least not if you are decently advanced and not extremely overweight.

You might be able to gain with intermittent fasting of some kind, fasting 14-16 hours a day or fasting 24 hours a week or twice a week,  or relative calories restriction on alternate days, a mixing of the above, etc... which are actually interesting ways to explore.

if you want anti aging but still a caloric surplus, try bulletproof intermittent fasting. Eat from 2PM to 8PM. Eat all your calories there. in the morning, have bulletproof coffee (no protein added) - hunger is gone and you can easily last to 2PM again.

Fasting for 16-18 hours will give you the benefits you want.

Why intermittent fasting is anti aging even if you are in a caloric surplus?

It probably does not slow down aging a terrible lot if you have a hypercaloric diet. But our bodies are probably evolutionary adapted to few meals per day. We are not meant to browse and feed like cows and goats.
