Hope I'm not posting in the wrong section. If so I'll gladly remove it but I'm still learning this site.

Anyways, doc wanted me on minocycline for 3 months for lyme and ehrlichiosis. I'm a late stage patient who never got treated so it's not like i have to make an urgent decision. But I read into some disturbing side effects of minocycline. As is commonly known it stains the teeth and skin blue/black, but also the thyroid... And apparently this "black thyroid syndrome" has been associated in about ~30% of cases with thyroid carcinoma. I mean some of these look gross. Like smokers lungs http://www.researchp...O2012/SP174.pdf

Not sure what to make of this and just wondering if anyone is familiar or has any helpful info. She feels confident that 3 months will help the ehrlichiosis and in turn the lyme but theres not much data to support that to my knowledge so it's her word on her clinical experience vs my thyroid. I get that all antibiotics have side effects but cancer and these permanent "stains" just don't sit right with me. I've been through multiple cancer scares as a result of this illness so i'm a little sensitive to these particular risks. But I'm not sure if I'm blowing this out of proportion.
