My favorite online retailers no longer have niacin fast release in the form of nicotinic acid. That's the form that improves lipid profiles. They're only selling niacinamide, inositol hexanicotinate, or timed release (no way in hell I like my liver). Has there been some sort of FDA action or recall I don't know about? The Niaspan recall was a couple of years ago, and the media writeups on the fallout (this proves niacin is ineffective) was laughably wrong though certainly what the FDA wants printed since they hate supplements.

I don't see the problem. Amazon and iherb both have it.

I'm seeing nothing but no-flush, unspecified (assume niacinamide), or niacinamide on iherb. Nothing in useful (500mg+) doses anyway. What brands are you talking about?

Both just say they have "niacin." If they don't specifically say "nicotinic acid" you can assume it's only niacinamide.

Niacin = nicotinic acid.
Niacinamide = nicotinamide.
