so, NAD boosting is the latest craze in the antiaging circles. David Sinclair, who rose to fame by demonstrating that resveratrol mimics caloric restriction, is really into it. Here's a good article from scientific American that explains the whole thing far better than I could

looking at the reviews for the NAD boosting supplement Nicotinamide Riboside on Amazon I see a handful of people saying it's the greatest thing ever, and another handful of people saying it did absolutely nothing for them

hhas anybody tried to supplement? What were your experiences?

one thing that I'm noticing is that people are saying you really need to take 1000 mg a day to reach clinically effective levels

At that dosage it's darn expensive. It's possible a lot of people took it and got nothing out of it were just simply not taking enough. Which is understandable given the price. Maybe in a year or so the price will go down?

Phoebus there are a host of forums on this topic. Bottom line is NAD levels fall with age and its at the center of our cellular metabolism. If you are young you likely won't feel a thing, however if your a bit older it may increase your alertness and offer some anti-inflammatory aid. Its not going to undo all of the wear and tear you've accumulated and many people feel nothing. I liken the situation to a leaking boat. By taking NAD precursors its like your bailing the water out but the leak grows with time and the boat eventually sinks anyway. In a real sense by boosting NAD levels you help keep NAD dependent processes going longer and some repair mechanisms like PARP are kept working. PARP is a DNA repair mechanism and you aren't going to feel it. However NAD is responsible for our oxidative metabolism and it is many more times efficient than anaerobic metabolism, so many people report increased energy. So do the reading and you find the chemistry is sound and see where this takes you.
