Hello all,
First I'd like to thank everyone for their contributions to the forum, they have been life-changing for me.
I took ALCAR for roughly a year but had to stop as the anxiety was too much to bear, and in lower doses it seemed to stimulate nerve pain. I switched to regular L Carnitine (Tartrate) and still have some anxiety/negative thinking though it's massively reduced.
I'm curious about L Carnitine's effect on the brain. Is it a cholinergic like ALCAR? That, while energizing me and improving memory, caused me depressive and OCD-like thoughts. I'm still having those now to a much lesser degree, and I can't tell if it's the carnitine, or just plain stress/anxiety/lasting negative thought patterns that will eventually dissipate (I have had enormous stress at work recently as well). I don't really want to take a break from L Carnitine because it helps me a lot with body fat/body comp.
Thanks!
