Is it normal for mirtazapine to induce sleep?

took one orodispersible tablet yesterday evening and immediately felt drowsy

woke up a few hours later, had a light meal, and knocked out till morning

this morning still slightly sleepy and after small meal, slept all the way till now, as i force myself to be awake

In higher doses it is more activating by stimulating norepinephrine release through antagonizing the alpha 1 and alpha 2 autoreceptors. The intensity of the sedating effect is dose dependent and might get weaker by the time.

It's good as a sleep aid if you don't use it often. I found that as little as 0.5mg of the stuff will induce sleep. There may be a slight hangover the next day but not too bad unless you go over 1mg. I know the usual dose is like 15 to 30 mg but tiny doses work fine. Good for hard head insomnia
