Hey everyone,

I've been wondering about something and I figured the experts here would know. I know that many of the racetams are neuroprotective and known to help with neuroplasticity. Most of these benefits seemed to be obtained from a more long term use of them.

So my question is, let's say you take Aniracetam or Oxiracetam for a few months and stop for a while do you lose all of the benefits you gained during the time you took them in terms of neuroprotective/neuroplasticity benefits?

Hopefully this makes sense. I'm grateful for any help in answering this question.

yeash. dude. have you not learned by now that anything made in a lab stops working the sekond you forget to take it?  and you must surely also have noted that synthetics are more likely to be pro-oxidative in nature, and to present more general health concerns?  bacopa is the best choice obviouslyyy

Hi GamesGuru,

Thanks for the taking the time to respond as I'm grateful. I don't know much if not anything about the subject as I'm new to all of this. I've just been researching Oxiracetam as I'm currently taking it and ran across an article that discussed Neuroplasticity in regards to the racetams.

I've never heard of Bacopa before so I'll do some research on it. As I said. New to this so just curious and trying to learn. Thank you :-)

yeah, bacopa works better the longer you take it.  and it keeps working after you quit (which ismore than you can say for racetams).  it also doesn't have tolerance issues or concerns of toxicity

Hi Gamesguru,

Whoa! Bacopa looks really promising. Do you know why the effects of this tend to stay even after quitting in regards to the racetams? How long have you been taking it and what effects have you noticed? Any side effects you've experienced and in your opinion for someone new to it what does would you recommend?

I plan to do some more research on my own, but since you seem to know your stuff figured I would ask if it's cool :-)  And I know what you mean about the racetams, I've tired Ani, Oxi, Piracetam, Noopept and a few others and never really notice any lasting benefits except for feeling calm (with Ani) and improved writing abilities. I've never needed choline for anything as I appear to be choline dominant.

So trying Bacopa could be fun and interesting experiment

well.  before i started taking bacopa if my date knocked on the door, i would answer it holding a knife dripping in ketchup, say 'welcome to the jungle babe', then immediately place her hand near my groin and ask to be called cute over and over.  these days i'm way more chill, usually playing some online chess and just ask her to fluff a blanket before we carpool out to some spot

before taking bacopa i also used to have problems focusing at work, but no more.

i think a lot of the racetam responders are just hypercholinergic.  but then they get to tolerance and can't figure out what went wrong?  although i needed to take choline with piracetam i am still sensitive to it.  too much acetylcholine makes me moody, had to limit dietary choline intake once i started taking bacopa and other AChEs (such as ginkgo, a powerful herbal stimulant which nevertheless has such significant tolerance issues as to limit its scope to the short-term.  best to take it a few times a week, 3 weeks a month.  but unlike adderalls, it actually feels like a cumulative benefit similar to bacopa.  and also from looking at some gene transcript changes, it appears a lot healthier than adderall)

This is interesting and could be a huge plus for me as one of the reasons I always enjoyed Aniracetam was the chill, calming effect it had and still has for me. My mind is always racing with thoughts and it helps to quite some of the thoughts. So receiving a similar effect from Bacopa sounds useful.

The racetams are interesting, but the thing that annoys me about some people taking them is they seem to quit very early on when they don't "feel" anything happening, especially after a week or so when most studies have shown it takes long term use to start experiencing effects.

I do get some benefits from them and have noticed improvements in dual n back, but as you can tell I'm interested in playing the long game with neuroplasticity, neurprotective and other benefits and hate losing any benefits gained from the racetams when quitting to cycle, etc...Plus, as you said, it's a natural supplement compared to synthethic.

So based on everything you have told me Bacopa sounds like it could be a great replacement. I just placed an order from Nootropic Depot. I'll keep you up to date with how I do on them.

Interesting thing is I get the same effect from Choline. Anytime I have tried to take any type of choline supplement, even Alpha GPC it makes me talk hyper and like you, I get real moody. For whatever reason even with high doses of racetam I never need Choline and I know for a fact I don't really get a lot of choline from my diet either.

Thanks for exposing me to this new one brother. One of the reasons I love this forum. Have a great day and thanks again for dropping some knowledge on me.
