This forum needs a new division titled GENETIC AGE REVERSAL or similar

because that scheme is leaving cryonics     dreamers in the dust.

Here's where to cast your live-forever-dreams -- stuff like this!!!:

How about it turns out you have to wait for 200 years for it :)

Help me understand hysterical tenacious clinging to cryonics...?

a. genetically age reversing mice (mammals) is happening NOW!!!!

b. cryonics can't yet properly preserve a single mammal cell

nor bring a cluster of them back to activity????

Has it worked at all yet on a living originally non-GE mouse?

Mice are not humans. What works in mice doesn't work in humans.

To tell the true, I will be happy if I am wrong on that.

10 years are not that far away. We will live, we will see.

At that moment I am allowed to be skeptical. I have lived many defeat aging fuses. When I was 15, defeating aging was a matter of a decade, then aging had to be defeated with the Mathusaleh mouse, then before the new millenium (the year of 2000), then after 2010, now you are postphoning it to 2017 + 10 = 2027 right? Lets hope that after 10 years you will repeat to me "I told you! I told you!" How about if it does not happen? Do you allow me to repeat you constantly "Ï told you! I told you!"

How about this:

age reversal genetic engineering on humans is taking place

RIGHT NOW

TODAY

THIS VERY SECOND

illegally**, of course, but by willing scientists being
(**then again, in some country somewhere, maybe legal...?)

paid large sums by desperate millionaires & billionaire guinea pigs...

or maybe they're paying slum dwellers to be guinea pigs

before receiving the elixir...?

Hmmm I have to disagree, cryonics is a worst case scenario

It will not be the first and the last time when people with money and power will do exotic medical technologies on themselves with the hope for something better. Even though, we cant be absolutely sure they are doing exactly that today. This is only your view. You may be right, you may be not.

This study is a little old, I had come across mention of it some time ago, and there are some things one can do similar to it. Just because we don't have this gene by design doesn't mean we might not be able to replicate something like it with genes we already have. That's really what alot of senolytics and cancer drugs do, not to mention starving one's self with just the right amount of nutrients. A handful of anti aging supps with side effects may even do similar, though all will probably do it differently.

I do whole heartedly agree that we should have a gene therapy forum though. I think we do have a genetics forum tho. Would be nice to see our community coming up with ideas in this area or even generating some experiments to measure rejuvenation properties of things.

Well, I don't think anyone is paying slum dwellers, and gene therapy will generally be safer than we think if done in the right way. For instance, the first p53 gene therapy killed people, later iterations improved outcomes. There are genes which for most of us will only help us stay younger and fitter, and deletions which prevent some aging and disease. These we can do now and expect reasonable, harmless results. In fact, I think side effects from cutting edge gene therapy would be fewer than side effects from the drugs we generally use today.

Any way you look at it, we're going to break some eggs... so get those eggs cryonics, the sooner that happens, the sooner we can find solutions in an ethical and expedient manner.
