Article (1 April 2017): Is this pink pill the elixir of youth? A Harvard scientist claims NMN drug has already knocked 20 years off his age - and given his 77-year-old father the energy of a 30-year-old

  • The NMN pill could be key in reversing the effects of ageing
  • It was developed by Austrailian scientist Professor David Sinclair
  • He has spent two decades investigating how to ‘cure’ ageing

The small pinkish pill sitting in my palm looks no more exciting than a battered Smartie. And yet it represents the culmination of centuries of ceaseless striving and quests for magical elixirs.

The Australian scientist who has developed it predicts that, in decades to come, people will look back on its creation as a moment as historically significant as the Wright brothers’ first flight.

Apparently, it tastes like salted popcorn, but for form’s sake Professor David Sinclair would rather I didn’t swallow this little dose of nicotinamide mononucleotide, or NMN — although he’s confident it wouldn’t harm me.

It is claimed the NMN pill is key to reversing the process of human ageing

No but it sure is the elixir of wealth. It won't reverse aging, it won't make you young again, but it will make Sinclair and his gang wealthy with a big fat B.

How is this different from NR? Also, since Dr. Sinclair has been involved in anti-aging for quite a long time, it's suspicious to me that his body would "test" at a biological age of 58 when he's 47. Which blood test exactly tells you your 'biological age' with such precision? I like Dr. Sinclair if for no other reason than that he keeps the topic of anti-aging in play, and of course I would love this pill to be an amazing milestone, but several things are make me skeptical.

its Apr 2nd now so there are no more pink pills of youth available i guess :) I have read many great news yesterday, like Elon Musk started selling Moon flight tickets for around $30k, :-D

I do understand what you're saying, but I've been reading about this for a while. Here's an article from last week from a different source: https://www.scienced...70323141340.htm

And apparently here's a place where you can buy it or something similar? https://www.revgenet...nucleotide.aspx

The pink part might have been April Fool's, but I think there actually is research ongoing with this substance? I could be wrong! I'm pretty gullible, I admit, lol.

As far as I know, NR (NMN, NAD+, etc) does not rejuvenate, only slows aging...better than nothing, I guess. Yes, Sinclair could become rich, but if he does get rich while helping to end aging, we all benefit. I would hope anyone who develops treatments to rejuvenate would be well compensated.

Well if it reverses aging, they'd be taking before and after pictures. But I guess it's nice to have extra energy if it doesn't make you lazy and over satiated as was the case for me with NR. I'm willing to give it a try though.

What an interesting reaction to NR. I've been taking Basis for two years as of February, and I have a lot of energy, but of course different supplements affect people differently. I don't think I'll know if it's making a difference until I'm elderly. Stay tuned!
