L-Glutamic vs L-Glutamine for brain fog ?

Hi guys, 

 

So I was wondering and keep getting confused between which one I need. I have bad brain fog / memory issues and anxiety / depression, and have heard in some cases that L-glutamine can help as it's quite abundant in the body.

 

I was wondering though, would it be better to buy L-glutamic acid as doesn't that convert to l-glutamine anyway and have other beneficial affects on the body?

Stop reading crappy blogs and try to understand the real mechanisms behind "brain fog". No, it won't help you. Obviously.

As for something that may help your "brain fog," try msm and glucosamine together.

Kieran, you can't assume that L-Glutamic Acid, L-Glutamine or Glucosamine or whatever, will actually help YOU with your brain-fog - because brain-fog have many, many different causes.

 

You need to figure out first, why you, specifically, have brain-fog. Test yourself and talk to Dr's about this problem and see what they come up with - do some blood-work, see if you have any deficiencies detectable in blood.

 

I had a look at your other thread again, and especially your reaction to Kratom.

I haven't had a look at this plant in the past, but it seems to have an IMMENSELY complex mechanism of action! One thing I note though, is that it has some effects on dopamine and NOREPINEPHRINE, which seems to be the strongest upon first use of the plant.

 

And as I recall, you had never tried any Norepinephrinergic antidepressants? Bupropion (wellbutrin, voxra) and Duloxetine (cymbalta) come to mind off the top of my head.

 

You need to have a look at those drugs, and seriously consider them - there IS proof that they help with cognitive deficits in several different psychiatric disorders.

 

 

NE is a helluva' drug, man.

Hey, 

 

I would really like to try out Bupropion it's just the fact that I have no way of getting any of it. My doctors don't even know what brain fog is, last time I went all they did was say it's my concentration which is probably linked to my depression / anxiety then put me in contact with general wellness people who are going to give me yet another consultation over the phone.. They turned me down last time as they thought my depression wasn't bad enough. I think my low self-esteem makes the depression worse though. The brain fog doesn't really get worse though, well it did once when I drunk a lot of alcohol around my mates and forgot I was taking GABA tablets at the time... The brain fog was so bad for two weeks. 

 

Yes, the only time my fog has properly gone is when I went out on a hot summers day, drank lots of water and didn't eat anything throughout the day, (except a bag of chips and some milk) at like 8 when I got home (feeling very anxious and wired) some reason the sun makes me feel very wired sometimes like I've just done some noopept or something.

 

Although thinking about it, I only felt anxious and wired when I came out of the sea as I went for a swim in there. I cannot even remember the strain of Kratom I used, as I believe they all contain different compounds so it's not like I can see which one helped me. Anyway, after feeling wired woke up and felt brain fog free for a good day, then the second day it was still going strong but felt it dye down... Then the third I was back to normal.

if you can eat a bag of chips and milk without getting foggy i must say youre doing better than most.  i think you're just being hard on yourself, and blinding yourself to the real issue by focusing exclusively on depression and anxiety.  pretty typical of schizotypal disorder to be so self-depreciating and aloof.. but i'm no doc so take it with a grain of salt

 

the bit about kratom is interesting, but im afraid doesnt explain much since it has very diverse effects (serotonin, dopamine, opioid).  i'm sure you could get a similar response from different kratom.  but instead i would start experimenting with more reputable agents of dopamine (ginkgo, quinoa, tea) and serotonin (bacopa, lithium, magnesium).  i'm not convinced kratom is the answer lol.  and NE makes me horribly horribly neurotic, ginkgo has even been known to cause problems.  on the flip side, ive heard good things about propanolol in situational anxiety, and its basically a NE antagonist (beta 1&2 sites iirc).  but with all due respect if you have to pop a xanny just to make an approach, youre aint be sounding like no Wadsworth when you start smacking those lips.  might work in a situation where everyone is drunk, of if you use the "hey, i just had to come embrass myself in front of you" line

Well most of the time and to be fair it is, my sense of humor is terrible and find it hard to think. Most of the time I feel like I have a blank personality without any hobbies, goals, life ambitions and to be fair I wouldn't even know where to start. I literally have nothing on my mind in terms of conversation I just see people and wouldn't know how to engage anything. I am literally a walking shell with all these emotional issues and cognitive dysfunction.

 

On the flip side, I have tried Ginkgo gold before and it used to be amazing. Magnesium gives me twitches, I am not using Kratom anymore to be honest, it made me very blunt and even more forgetful after a few days use. 5-HTP was good as well, made me anxious first few days but after it was good for two days then it would put me in a state of depression if I kept using it.

 

But to be fair, serotonic anti-depressants made me feel quite depressed. When I tried tianeptine it made me feel quite blunt and depressed as well, very emotional.
