I am looking to take Vitamin C for its antihistamine properties. Dehydroascorbic acid which is oxidized Vitamin C is shown to cross the blood brain barrier, absorbic acid though which is what you get in pill or powder form does not. However does absorbic acid become dehydroascorbic acid in the body and then enter the brain? So I can buy absorbic acid and still have the antihistamine effects?

With hay-fever this time of the year I always take 2 teaspoon full of ascorbic acid mixed with water. Immediately takes the symptoms for 2 hours away.

Ascorbic acid does oxidize to dehydroascorbic acid and is taken up in the brain.
