BTW, I suspected for a long time I might have a mild form of autism. I can have a short fuse when provoked. is pathologic hunger a known thing in autism?

Edit: Looks like it is: https://www.dailystr...-with-aspergers

OMG, eating raw foods and hiding empty wrapping and food boxes is so typical of my cousin who has lots of mental issues and lately gaing weight rapidly.

6mg of risperidone oral is the max prescribed oral dosage. That's not a low dosage. I have no idea why they would say it's low, maybe they are doing injections.
Risperidone is very slow acting and sits for weeks in fatty tissue, so what the doctors do is slowly increase the dosage over time. Risperidone can be deadly if overdosed on and deadly if you cease the usage too quickly.
There are also concerns that risperidone has permanent effects by permanently inhibiting the serotonin 5ht5 receptor, or whichever it was.
Risperidone lowers self-reliance, causing the patient to be easier to dictate and influence.

If you really wanted your son the best then you'd have listened to what I told you and not given this crappy drug.
Treating irritability in autism is extremely easy, just try to read, use your eyes and your brain if you can.
Creatine for high glutamate, 5ht2a antagonists for high serotonin. What supplements are 5ht2a antagonists? Ginkgo Biloba? There are many to try.

There exists no pharmaceutical drug capable of treating autism, to my knowledge. Some drugs are prescribed for autism but only treat 1 or 2 symptoms.

Any alternative to Creatine for high glutamate?

Thanks BJ for the post on hunger, which has become now the main issue with my son.

update for all who may be interested (I hope as few people as possible have similar problems).

  1. Went to the 1st specialist, who prescribed what I later found to be massive doses of risperdal, as Peaceandprosperity in a previous post says. Also my son gained 22 kg (about 50 pounds) in 2 months, had those horrible compulsive senseless behaviours, looked like a zombie and sometimes even had self-damaging behaviour. So much so for the veteran-looking specialist
  2. Went to the 2nd specialist, who prescribed a switch to aripiprazole (20 mg daily), notwithstanding my complaints that literature says it cause weight gain ( I asked for ziprasidone). I had no alternative at the time (other than dangerous and very costly self-administered shcedule of ziprasidone), so I went on with what is believed to be a more metabolism-friendly drug. My son gained 10 more kg in one month, having developed bulimia. He is now 140 kg, at 14 years of age, 1.78 cm height. The aggressive behaviour ceased, that's the only positive issue, but at a cost which may be viewed as too high. It goes without saying that if I deny the food the aggressivity is triggered.
  3. Being surrounded by incompetent specialists in my area, I went to a specialized institution where I hope my son will be allowed residence and followed for a few months with a custom-tailored medical treatment. I'll have to leave him to the care of the institution, but I have no choice at this juncture. If he goes on like this, He's bound to hit the 200 kg target (440 pounds). He has a bottomless hunger and the reports by users of aripiprazole all confirm this effect, especially in boys.
  4. I may try some of Blackjack's suggestions in the other post but I'm afraid to mess with what now is a precarious balance.
  5. In the meanwhile I'm feeding my son really huge amounts of fibers and filling food, like vegetables, cereal soups and so on. I may try some of the natural products listed by blackjack on top of that.
