What's the deal with GABA pills? They don't cross the blood brain barrier. But do we have GABA receptors in other parts of our body outside of the brain? So do GABA supplements do any good at all? I personally take Picamilon. However is there any benefits of GABA pills?

There are GABA receptors elsewhere in the body (stomach/intestines if I'm not mistaken), which probably explains why people still feel effects from these pills.

Besides that, your blood brain barrier could at least absorb some of the pill.

Also, if you look at picamilon, it is GABA-Niacin, which causes it to cross the BBB. It is then broken apart, leaving the GABA to hit the desired receptors.

I believe Dr Rhonda Patrick was taking GABA supplements for their affects on the Vagus Nerve within the stomach.

I know when I take it, I really dislike the short term disruption it has on breathing.
