Is there a difference between Upregulating d2 receptor density and d2 agonism?
Or it's the same thing?

Do dopamine agonists increase receptor density? Or do they have difference way of action?

Also what about increasing receptor binding - is it same as upregulating receptor density?

I'll help you get started.

You can do a search to see if someone already explained it:

I don't know much myself but I'll try my best to share what I know.

Upregulating D2 density and D2 agonism is not the same thing.

D2 agonists activate D2 receptor which will lead to an increase in D2 density. Some agonists predominantly targets pre-synaptic neurons while others also affect post-synaptic neurons.

Receptor binding? I think that's term used to measure how potently a substance affects a particular receptor. (E.g. full agonist/partial agonist/inverse agonists/antagonists etc.) You can learn more from here: https://en.wikipedia..._and_activation
