Hi all,

My name is Michael, 32 years old, living in Belgium.
I’m happy to be part of this community and hope to get some help and be able to help others in the future.
For now I have very little knowledge of nootropics and for this reason I turn to you guys.

I smoked cannabis from my 14 years, it is only at my 27 that I decided to quite smoking for good.
On top of this I used all kind of other drugs while going out in clubs for several years: XTC/amphetamines/cocaine also combined with valium/Xanax and so on…

Making a long story short, I’m having communication and concentrations problems who are limiting my professional life.
Are they a consequence of my drug past.. probably.

Since I’m clean, I'm living a healthy lifestyle, working out 5x/week, eating clean whole foods every day (with some exceptions off course :-) , only drinking alcohol on special occasions. I try to sleep as much as possible but most of the times only reach 6-7 hours a day, also waking up often at night.
I work as an freelance IT consultant in a banking enterprise for more then 7 years now, so you can imagine that I have to be very communicative.

When someone I talking to me, I cannot concentrate, it is like my mind is floating away. This may sound funny but sometimes it’s like I’m looking through the person I’m talking to.
As a result, once they ask me a question in this same conversation I’m completely lost and I am unable to answer.
It is like my brain is not able to focus on the conversation.

Also i’m having issues while speaking, I swallow words or pronounce them incorrectly while it is my mother language!
People often ask what I just said, because they don’t understand me, which lowers my self confidence.
I’m having issues explaining something simple, It’s like I never make my point, I’m not clear.

In order to assure my job the coming years I would need to get some more certifications, but I’m unable to concentrate on a book. I’m reading the same sentence over and over again and still not remembering what I just read.

I could go on and on, but I think you get my point.
Personally I think my brains are not reacting like they should.

Do you guys think nootropics could be the answer?
Please share your opinion.

Thanks a lot !

P.s: sorry for my english, dutch is my mother language.. :)

There are multiple studies showing that chronic marijuana use affects diverse cognitive processes.

You should look into substances that increase BDNF and NGF (noopept, alcar, lion's mane, beta-alanine, gingko, curcumin, others)

Further there's at least one possible theory on NMDA hypofunction and dopamine dysregulation due to chronic marijuana use.

You may also want to try N-Acetylcysteine and glycine to see if you get an improvement.

Some good B supplements and some fish oil high in DHA is also beneficial.

This list is just to get you going. There are many other supplements that could help out.
