I feel a plant based diet is very healthy for prevention of disease and other problems.  My issue is as follows.  Most people who talk about this mention that weight loss is a plus of this type of eating.  I do not have this situation.  Along a typical day, I eat:

A collagen beverage

10-50g dark chocolate

A shake with 16oz whole milk, protein powder, coconut shaving, sometimes malt powder, flax seed

A massive salad

Two cups of rice with butter, two sausages, turmeric and veggies

16oz more of whole milk

Two more cups of rice with butter and sausage

25% of a jar of crunchy peanut butter

I seldom snack or do desserts.

No soda.

No alcohol.

I drink water.

On weekends I make

12oz uncured bacon

A pizza

40% of a gallon of whole milk

A can of roast beef hash (no nitrites)

1/4 jar of crunchy peanut butter

I have a few questions about this:

How can you maintain calories on a plant based diet?

How can you get protein on a plant based diet?  I know there is rice and pea protein powder but I was informed it's not a complete protein.

Do you just make rice and beans all the time?

When I eat a normal diet my body wants to be 135 pounds.  I have to do 3-5,000 calories a day to maintain weight.  Other than eating butter, how do you raise your calories?

Do you use Cronometer?

Personally, I have the same issue: ectomorphism. But I've given up on trying to gain weight just in order to meet someone else's expectations for love. That's me, though, maybe your motivations for wishing to gain weight have to do with something else. For me, it was to attract a mate. Now I'm thinking hey if she don't wanna love me for who I am -- healthy ectomorph -- then oh well.

And you've been posting here at this site now long enough to know that CR is probably our only option so far for extending health span. So I'm resigned to skinnydom. Whatever.

Wanna add healthy calories? Source out the latest harvest, best chemistry olive oil, and go to town. It's healthy, its fattening, and drown your veggies in enough EVOO and you'll gain weigh, alright.

No protein powders? I would think there are all kinds of vegan protein powders that are full of full spectrum amino acids.

I know of pea and brown rice protein powders although the ones I use have to be unflavored and have no sweeteners in them.  My problem was that I was under the impression that they are not complete sorts.

I've gained about 5 pounds since using a higher dose (500 micrograms vs 10 micrograms) of B12. Additionally it helps with alcohol/hangovers.

Protein is relatively easy to acquire on a vegan diet, provided that you aren't opposed to using vegan protein concentrates.  If the goal is putting on weight then you can afford to eating lower-protein foods to hit your daily protein goals, at the cost of higher caloric consumption (which in the case, would be working for your goals.)

Right now, I'm just doing one meal in the evening with around 2200-2600 calories.  With a similar breakfast or lunch, this would be a 4000-5000 calorie day.  I'm at energy balance at 155lb at around 2400kcal, although I currently only exercise for 20-30m/d.

Why on G-d's green earth would you ever want to only eat plants? You are meant to eat meat, you foolish individual! Don't buy into the libtard crap about animals producing climate change or they suffer for you to eat meat.

Gaining weight is difficult, as I've noticed in myself. There is a plateau and no matter how much I eat I don't exceed that until something funky happens to my insulin sensitivity and then I gain 10kg a month or so.

There are weight gaining drugs you should look into.

Do you mind giving precise information concerning this?

http://www.longecity...se-weight-gain/ read that

I now think that it's a specific combo of two snacks that I eat that causes weight gain for some reason. I will look into what they contain that's so different from other snacks. Basically it's muffins and "chocolate balls," that's the only explanation I can find because other foods without these two snacks (pizza, fatty meats and other snacks) does not produce the same bizarre weight gain.

You gain weight from plants the same way you gain weight from any diet, consume more calories than you burn. If you want a list of calorie dense plant foods, just google it. Nuts, oils, avocados, grains, are good. For sure, you will need to consume a lot more bulk than an average person, but all that fiber is good for you. You will also have to spend more time eating, but snacking on fruit and nuts can be pretty nice.

Without boron the sex hormones go out of balance. Iodine is essential. Go easy on your supplements. But eat for you not your parasites!

Potatoes are a source of complete protein. Unfortunately high in carbs.

I eat sweet potatoes daily, they are also a great source of beta-carotene.  Why do you say "unfortunately high in carbs"?  Complex carbs should be the foundation of any healthy diet.  High protein diets lead to shorter lifespans in most studies (and most species including humans), one random example:

Low-carb diet may make you unhealthy, shorten your life: study

The longest lived people groups every studied, vegetarian and pesco-vegetarian California Adventists and long lived Okinawans, both eat/ate low protein, high carb diets.
