Going to start high dosage of selegiline soon, since I can't find any of the classical MAOIs at a reasonable price.

 

I've read everything about the interactions with food and serotoninergics.

However I still have some fears over the tyramine induced hypertensive crisis and would like to carry something around just in case.

 

What medicines would be the most appropriate here? So far I've found nitroglycerin, phentolamine and nifedipine but I don't understand which one would be the best suited in such situation. I'm diagnosed with bradycardia(nothing serious) if that changes anything.

Please do not take any of the drugs I've mentioned or any drug at all that might rapidly lower blood pressure in a short period of time. I've just learned it can cause permanent blindness and even death. This is why this procedure has to be performed and closely monitored by professionals at a hospital during a long period of time(24-48h).

 

I guess I was just being a little too paranoid. Apparently many low tyramine containing foods can be consumed and the BP will return to baseline within a couple hours. The biggest restriction seems to be with cheeses and some meats.

 

I will just carry a benzo with me. Please delete this pointless thread.
