Whenever I read a book I'm often with my mind somewhere else and afterwards I barely remember what ive read, any suggestions of nootropics that can help with this?

Thank you

Plain meditation might help. It also depends on your interest for the content of the book and the difficulty of the text. Some books are really just a pain in the ass to read. Further, it might help to really want to understand the material.

You could try some kind of combinated "reading meditation". If you notice you drifted away, get back to the last point in text that you can remember and read again. Repeat. That is what I do if i have trouble concentration while reading.

In my opinion racetams noopepts etc etc wont matter in this case. I guess the problem might be with too high dopamine levels or low serotonin level. Reason why I make this outlandish claim is that I experienced both states and with lower dopamine (zero coffee zero games zero nootropics zero alcohol) it is way easier to focus on a book. With too high dopamine I guess you'll won't even notice your mind wanders off

Make sure your B-vitamins are sufficient.  Exercise and make sure your HDL is high.  Employee active reading.  Get out a pen and starting marking/highlighting as you read.  Underlying key words.  Circle concepts.  Write in the margins.  Take Notes.

I would think fasoracetam would be helpful.  But I'm not clear on the risks associated with it.  Methylphenidate (ritalin) would be another option.  Again, it's got risks because it's a stimulant with pharmacological properties similar to cocaine.
