Hi! I’ll keep it short, maybe someone could give me a shot here:

Had low sex drive/libido for years (35yo now, since 27yo), no morning erections, “small flaccid dick” effect most of the time. It’s like a cycle where I’m in that state like 90% of the day and sometimes without apparent reason I regain spontaneous erections and “normal flaccid dick” size.

Now, I’ve never made the following connection but… I’ve had a stuffy nose since my teens. It’s always there and sometimes foods make it way worse or back…

This morning I woke up with a totally clean/unobstructed sinus and… a raging ERECTION. After a few minutes of being around the flat sinus became blocked again and… erection’s gone with it…

I have to say this happened a few times in the past but I’m just now making the connection. No other lifestyle/diet change (cannot relate to specific foods eaten overnight).

I’ve tried many herbs/vitamins/stacks through the years with NO effect. Even Viagra/Cialis seem to work like at 30%…

This morning was like: wow, it’s all there, it’s just something is STOPPING it to work…

Could this be related to?…
- Histamine/DAO (don't know my status)
- Allergy (I'm reactive to dust mites)
- Adrenals/Thyroid
- High Norepinepherine/low dopamine levels related to something that shows up in the sinus symptomatically?
- Ideas?

RELEVANT RECENT LABS
LOWER RANGE:
Chloride, FSH, IGF-1, Testosterone for age? (14 nmol/L)
SWINGING (High/Low): Bicarbonate, Ferritin, HDL
HIGH RANGE: ALT, Uric Acid, Fasting Blood Glucose, HA1C, Cholesterol, LDL, Homocysteine (12), CRP (3.5), Lp-PLA2 (260), Fibrinogen, Vitamin B6, Copper, Microalbumin/Creatinine ratio (6.21)
Reactive to: Dust Mite (already with HEPA room filter + bed encasement + steam cleaning...)

Any ideas welcomed!!!

Luis

Not sure about what would have allowed the erection suddenly while having a clear sinus, but I've had persistent sinus issues, dust mite allergies and immense food intolerance for many years. I got an air purifier, removed carpet, and avoided allergens but I don't recall this having an impact one way or the other on erections.

Fwiw, I've been on Testosterone replacement therapy for a number of years and can say that testosterone level, DHT level, estrogen level, cortisol / stress level, quantity and quality of sleep all influence whether I have a strong morning erection and/or can get an erection on demand.

- Zinc is an aromatase inhibitor (reducing conversion of testosterone to estrogen), so taking 30-50mg/day may be worth trying.

- Arimidex is a much stronger aromatase inhibitor. If my estrogen is too high, I cannot get a strong erection and taking a small dose of arimidex helps within 12-24 hours to get the erection rock hard again.

- DHT has a strong impact on erections as well. If too low (if I take too much saw palmetto), erection strength is weak. If I do not take saw palmetto frequently enough, DHT goes too high and converts to estrogen, which then of course influences erections.

- If I don't sleep well or enough, I do not get morning erections. As soon as I start sleeping well, the erections come back.

- I don't know what your level of Testosterone is relative to the normal range, but if it's low-normal, you may be able to find a practitioner who can help you determine the underlying causes. Ideally try to uncover underlying causes from a functional medicine or other integrative type doctor who specializes in hormone issues. Prior to going on replacement therapy.

Not sure if that's helpful but just sharing a few thoughts.

Morning erection is a sign your body is in overdrive and sexually. all your sex drive etc should be turned off the whole sleep. if you get an erection it means something is on and your brain is not fully resting.

So breathing through your nose produces more Nitrous Oxide, which obviously drives erections, mechanically speaking.

Histamine is a potent inducer of it also!

To the poster saying morning erections means your body or brain is not fully resting is inaccurate.

During your sleep you get many erections, this is the bodies natural process of cleaning out junk from the area. Waking up with morning wood is healthy, but also note that not waking up with morning wood, does not indicate an issue necessarily.

Hope this helps.

If you can clear out your nasal passages, get the necessary done there, check if you have polyps, other irritants and try your best to accustom your body to breathing through your nose, and in turn while you sleep you may notice an improvement in erectile health.

My guess (?) most likely you were breathing through your nose, which increased NO production, which in turn gave you the erections!

Tell me, did you feel better rested while your nose was clear?

Hi Tesla, just in case you didnot notice, you're answering a poster who  dug up a thread that has been dead for years. Some people do that....

Ah how silly of me. I hope the original poster found his answer.
