Hey there! I'm currently researching a lot into creating an optimal nootropics stack (for personal use) mainly aimed at increasing focus, cognition, mood and energy levels. Most of what i've come up with has a 50/50 broscience/science ratio, where broscience means i scoured a bunch of nootropic websites for info, and science means i actually looked into papers. Mostly because I'd like to get some more (scientific) underbuilding of the compounds and dosages, i'm posting what i've come up with so far here, to see if you guys have any valuable opinions/recommendations. D1 stands for the dose in mg, by the way.

Some things i'm still unsure about are the Alpha GPC and huperzia. I'm contemplating either taking 250-300mg's of alpha GPC and leaving the huperzia serata out, as i've heard some nasrty stories about the inhibiting effect of huperzia (also a post on longecity i think), or going for the aforementioned combination of the two, because e.g. alphabrain uses a similar dosage/ratio and it seems to work pretty well

Also, i'm thinking of oncluding folate (b9), but i can't actually pinpoint what the effects are on the brain that have been proven. I read on one of the bulletproof blog's that it has synergies with b12, but can't really find much on it. Is it beneficial to put in? If so, what amount of b12 and b9 would you recommend?

as for the theanine, its slightly higher than a 1:2 ratio because i might ocasionally also have a cup of coffee.

What do you guys think? Are the dosages appropriate? Is anything vital missing? (except racetams, which are not an option for me bc of legality)

You’re off to a good start. I’d either add a comprehensive multivitamin-mineral or omit the isolated vitamins. Vitamins work together and are best in some semblance of balance. If you were low on, say, B1, no amount of B6 could compensate. Similar thing with magnesium and calcium.

I think your guarded approach to huperzine is wise. I wouldn’t make it my first stop cholinergic. Try the GPC first and see how you do. Then maybe consider huperzine if you have some specific reason to believe your cholinergic status needs the extra help. GPC is more like a food while huperzine is more like a drug.

You might also consider adding Lion’s Mane, bacopa, and maybe ashwaganda to round out the rhodiola.
