Hi,

I have a quick question is N Acetyl L Tyrosine and N Acetyl Tyrosine the same?

I have bought the Jarrows version and realized there is no 'L' (PLEASE CHECK ATTACHMENT).

Please help. Is it the same compound? Also, I am taking it on empty stomach in the morning, is that fine?

Hi there, im 99% certain its the same thing. You are right to take it on an empty stomach in the morning, i think it would work better if you took vitamin c when you eat since it helps the conversion of tyrosine into dopamine

It appears they are not quite the same. Little confusing for sure.

Supplement companies often use NAT instead of L-tyrosine because NAT is much more soluble in water.

N-Acetyl Tyrosine (NAT) is the amino acid tyrosine bonded to an acetyl group. The acetyl group must be removed from NAT to form tyrosine and become active in the body.

Tyrosine is not very soluble, meaning it does not dissolve well in water. NAT is much more soluble than Tyrosine; because of this NAT is often used for parenteral nutrition (intravenous feeding) instead of L-tyrosine because solubility is crucial for infusion.

They’re not technically the same, but in practice any tyrosine you buy is going to be L tyrosine. So the L is redundant, and many supplement sellers just leave it out.

Same goes whether you’re talking about the acetylated version of tyrosine. It’s all the L form so the extra letter is often dropped.

It’s fine to take it in the morning on an empty stomach.
