Is consciousness a requirement for the singularity, or is superintelligence enough?

Neither,

All that is required is that the pace of technological advancement becomes so great that prediction of future advancements is non-useful, or that any meaningful correct prediction is non-timely and highly improbable.

That is the prediction event horizon == hence the term technological singularity.

We are almost there == base pair editing of live embryos that corrected beta thalessemia came about only a few years after the first CRISPR CAS 9

Immortality is the LAST thing on my mind.

But, dominating (healthy living, beautiful soul, beautiful young women, wealth, etc) is key. It's really a quality of life issue.

Of course, that might be because I'm a wonderful evangelical believer. Eternal life flows through our veins!

The more time you have, the easier it is to dominate.

Compound interest is exponential -- whether it is money, wisdom, charm, ability to attract beautiful women ....

Live long enough to experience VR as real as reality, that's the key to YOUR dreams...

One of the menu selections will be a night with only you & all 50 Miss World contestants...

Me?  I'll be in the next VR machine talking to Christ & Van Gogh while watching the first

Earth land dwellers crawl out of ancient waters....  :|o  :|o  :|o

You mean like 10 more years..MAX. haha

that's the key to YOUR dreams...

Sorry, if VR is the KEY to your dreams, you've FAILED at life.

One of the menu selections will be a night with only you & all 50 Miss World contestants...

OK...That might be worth selecting, if only to see how it sizes up to similar experiences (smaller numbers, of course) you had in REAL LIFE!

Me?  I'll be in the next VR machine talking to Christ & Van Gogh while watching the first

Earth land dwellers crawl out of ancient waters....

Well, you won't be talking to the REAL Van Gogh.

And Jesus (Christ is simply a title) says....Whosoever.

No need for VR in that realm.....................Whatsoever!

You know, you actually (unwittingly, I'm sure) said something quite profound. I'll let the others figure it out.

But, no. A 70 yo man that looks like this  ain't gonna attract beautiful women no matter how many more minutes you put back on the clock!

Whooooooooooo!

Whooooooooooo!

I falsify your statement below:

Hugh Hefner (Multiple Playboy Bunnies), Michael Douglass (Catherine Zeta Jones)

There are many fantastically beautiful women who are with unattractive 70+ year old men -- Melania Knauss and Donald Drumpf

EDIT: I write an INSANELY false  statement below:

First I cite Hugh Hefner and his Multiple Playboy Bunnies without having a clue at how DESPISED he was by those women in his later years.

Then I cite Michael Douglass (whose name I can't spell. How can I not know how to spell Douglas!) who, long before he was 70 (more like 50) married ONE woman, Catherine Zeta Jones, who herself is just about 50!

You know, there are many fantastically beautiful women who are with unattractive 70+ year old men  and it's all about their money and not because they have any sex appeal which demonstrates I COMPLETELY missed your point.

And, for an encore, I'll call the greatest president ever - 'Donald Drumpf' because I am a brainless liberal who knows nothing about women or politics...or how to spell for that matter! Nuff Said

There, fixed it for ya!

haha

"TROLL!!!"

Wow, a personal attack. And, so soon! lol

Oh well, as everyone knows (at least everyone that can spell D-O-U-G-L-A-S), ad hominems are a disqualifier. So....

I win - You lose

But, thanks for playing! haha

Would you like me to list all the insanely hot women in their 20's and 30's that are with 70 and 80 year old rich men?

Like car salesmen say -- their is a butt for every seat. Many young women like older men -- perhaps you should talk to some of them in real life.

I dated a 22 year old when I was 45 -- nuff said

Anyway, ignoring these brain surgeons (who obviously have NO clue whatsoever about women) you CAN get young hot chicks to be TURNED ON to you, at least in your 60's. I know that for a  fact cause I do. And, it's not based on wealth although that's important as well, of course.

Can you in your 70's. Dunno.  You'll just have to wait till Dr. L gets there!

Whooooooooooo!
