Hey Longecity, I made a topic about this before but I am still getting no where, just seen a Neurologist, i don't know where or what to try anymore, all the doctors have no idea..

Key parts:

WIRED (by this i mean I feel heavily stimulated), Going days without sleep or need for it, most I went was 10 days is confirmed at Northwick Park Hospital. When I am wired and getting sleep during this phase it is usually just a couple of hours, but typically not needed for days.

Recently this comes with a crash, where I finally get sleep, typically 24 - 30 hours and for usually 2/3 days in a row and feel shattered. I wake up shaking, with huge anxiety running in my veins, then without warning flips back to a wired stage. I never wake up feeling normal, the stimulation is always running.

When really Wired/Stimulated my speech races, can’t settle, I feel out of it, warm, headache, eyes feel heavy, pupils dilated (without mood changes, constantly depressed), can’t eat with the feeling in my stomach. I’ve physical symptoms when wired, such as my downstairs shrinking during ‘wired’ phase (constant but so much more dramatic it hurts to pee and I will know how bad it's going to get just by looking downstairs).

I am lately having a lot of fevers, sweating a lot but with low tempatures, dizziness and other symptoms not there at the start coming into play. (which I have a feeling is a consequence of 3 years living like this).

Doctors:

3 years i've had 60 general doctors appointments, 4 endocrinologists, cardiologist, MRI, CT, EEG, Psychiatrist for a year, and this week seen a Neurologist who had no suggestions, but said because my MRI and EEG are clear he doesn't see this as Neurological, even though to me it seems like the nervous system?

Medications tried:

Melatonin – No difference to sleep

Supplements – HTP5 etc for sleep – No difference

Zoloft – Added to WIRED effect (came off it within 2 weeks)

Mirtazapine – No change to Wired, happiest I’ve been in years, helped my depersonization, depression, anhedonia / emotions, only stopped it because I wanted to tackle this first, this is a medication I feel I need in the future.

Olanzapine – No difference but helped anxiety but not as much as I’d like, still would want to be on this in the future

Zopiclones – No difference and can’t make me sleep

Last year:

Lithium – No difference at 0.9 for months

Depokte – No difference at all for anything

Quietapine – Could make me sleep but not nightly, no change to Wired

Beta Blockers – Helps shakes (still on them)

Lamotrigine - (couldn’t tolerate)

Xanax & Clonazepam - Both can bring down the feeling a bit, even sometimes get me sleeping, but the sleep only lasts 4 hours and other symptoms are still apparent, including the wired just to a less degree and takes heavy amount. Also unlike a few years ago, I can’t feel even at large doses any drowsiness, relaxed or even positive feelings, my head is just numb, even with cigarettes, no positive feelings.

Symptoms in order they came in (all are still on going and worse):

Year before this wired feeling:

Depersonization/Anxiety/Derealisation/Depression/NO THOUGHTS/ BLANK MIND/No inner monolouge – This has really changed my life and after this wired thing is one of my biggest priorities. (I have been told this is deep depression/Anhedonia – Gets some better on Mirtazapine 4 months)

Fatigue

Bladder dysfunction – Physical shrinkage depending on how ‘wired’ I feel’

Dilated pupils – Eyes dilated very large, everyone points it out and feel heavy

Last two years:

Start of this “wired”, unable to get any sleep or switch of even though I am shattered – Feel stimulated 24/7

Excessive sweating

Physical Anxiety – Bad, especially with the shakes or when I go wired

Bad memory

Last year:

CrashAfter days I crash, where I sleep for over 24 hours

Easily over-stimulated – Now can instantly go into ‘wired mode’ from a simple conversation and pupils will dilate and that can then stick for days

Tremors - I shake badly without beta-blockers and sometimes with (80mg)

Shortness of breath (don’t breath automatically anymore)

Exercise intolerance – Can’t walk a mile, when I was relatively fit before

Fevers - Every few weeks I’ll have a bad fever (but low temperature 33/34)

Intolerance to heat

Cognitive impairment – Dramatic

Craving SALT

High blood pressure – I’ve been told mildly high

Aching neck and shoulders – My neck is always tight

Muscle aches and/or joint pains – All day, expect when really wired

Excessive thirst - YES, drink 4 litters of water a day

Weight gain - Massive gain – from 12 stone to 16.5!

Restless leg syndrome
Shaky Vision

Headache/migraine - ALL DAY EVERY DAY

Glazed eyes when wired, family notice it and can tell straight away

Last 6 months

Legs feel weak and shaky

A lot more fevers

Dizziness – Pretty constant

More wired than a year ago

Personality changes, more aggressive, agitated

Memory much worse

Generally feel weak

For me it's clear something is very wrong, when I have a drink, I can drink all night round the clock, some crazy amounts and it won't get me drowsy and i'll just be up the next day without being even hungover and i've been out twice in a row and still out drank and not needed any sleep, this thing makes noooo sense, i just want it to end...

Suggestions I’ve had, all of which the Neurologist said is not the case in his opinion:

Parasympathetic system is overactive

Dysautonomia

Adrenergic Storm

Damn. As you can see my previous posts I suffer mainly from extreme apathy, anhedonia and blank mind. Recently got thyroid problems. 2 months ago I've started feeling like I'm on coffee. Not all the time, in episodes. I've checked my cortisol level and it's elevated, have you checked it?

Thanks for your reply, I watched Brain On Fire, i didn't unfortunately really feel it was me but thanks for the suggestion and next month I am gonna request Auto Immune tests are done by my Endo so I will defiantly ask for anti-NMDA test. They hate suggestions but hopefully they will do it, thanks

I've read a few of your posts Michael here and on DPSH.

My DP side is nothing compared to feeling like I am on speed 24/7 with a roller coaster, my body is in bits never mind the mental issues, blank mind wise, Mirtazapine is good for me but can't get on anything with all this stuff going on, apart from Beta Blockers.

The coffee feeling is how it started a good two years ago, now it's gone from a coffee feeling being a 1/10 to now a 10/10 at points where I feel so out of it stimulated, not nice, shaking, not sleeping (like didn't go to bed last night, no need what so ever)... like I think i mentioned, but if i go out and nail a big bottle of vodka and party, i am just stuck still up the next day thinking, how can i just not get tired...

Unfortunately i've had 4 24 hour Cortisol tests, how was yours performed (mine was urine x4)... But that's what it feels like, like pure adrenaline. The only thing I have in that direction is a 'Tilt test' coming up, which I was told by a Cardiologist that this type of adrenaline can't be measured any other way, who knows if that's right... I am wired right now and it makes me jumpy, so it seems so adrenaline like, i just can't understand how my tests are all normal, from the eyes dilating to everything.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Today I rang a private Phycologist, turns out if you have one under the NHS you aren't allowed to see someone private, so looks like i will have to discharge myself and pay £350 for the first consultation and £175 after that, seems a very expensive way to go
