You can look into 30,000-50,000 IU D3 (10 IU D3 : 2 mcg+ MK-4), magnesium, and a good multivitamin (Thorne 2/day or AOR Ortho-Core, for example) for 6 months. After, drop to a maintenance dose that pushes serum levels to the maximum without being out of range (80-100 ng/mL).

Depends on age, health history, and how well you are able to absorb it. Does the author use a lipid dissolved preparation? Most will absorb  powder just fine, but excess concentrated fat could lead to weight gain. Remember there are similarities between bone and fat stem cells.30,000 could be an overdose for some and might eqate to a much lower dose in others.

Here my results for the last 8 years:

2016: 468 - 72
2017: 631 - 101

So in my case I seem to have belonged to all subgroups at different times - in the long run over 8 years there seems to be an association with an substantial increase. The dose of vitamin D3 has been in average 8.000 IU/d. Highest in 2012 with up to 12.000 IUs. Lowest with about 6000 IUs while starting to supplement in 2010. The remaining years leveling out at 8000 IU/d.

 

First data this year:

2018: 681 - 93

The trend seems to continue...

 

 

PS: serum levels correlated to intake:

Important to add - since 2013 I took my whole 6 weeks yearly vacation on a South-Indian beach, always in the deepest Winter from middle of Jan. till the of end Feb.. Each day during 10:00-12:00 AM and 3:30-5:30 PM - 4 hours total - whole body sun-exposure daily (minus maybe about 40 minutes swimming in the ocean).

 

 

To be clear, outside of that one month per year, you were getting no sun? 

 

170 mcg = 6800IU daily via supplements?

I wanted the exact answer to the first question too. Therefore the whole last years recorded the sunny days I went to a nearby river for sunbathing and swimming (an exceptionally sunny summer). From May to October got 80 days each with about 2 hours in the sun. Which amounts to the same time sun-bathing during 6 weeks in India compared the remaining summer in the Alps. Therefore doubling it.

 

170 mcg is of course the average daily intake via supplements. However with the important detail that I started to supplement at the beginning of a December (2009). Therefore I calculated each year from beginning of December to November. The 170 mcg of this year therefore is the average from 1.Dec.2017 till 18.March 2018, when I posted this number

 

In the 6 weeks this year in India itself 70 mcg per day only. In 2017 100 mcg/d. In 2016 40 mcg/d. And the higher average intake came from the remaining months.

"Feeling the testosterone increase" I don't think is  a great way of measuring it. A lot of what people associate with "increased testosterone" seems to be a stimulant and calming effect. I know bodybuilders from time to time report such effects when taking large quantities of testosterone etc, but the increases they experience are far beyond what a few vitamins or herbs could do.

I wish it was easier to get blood samples tested for me, I certainly would want to get mine checked again. Vitamin D I do think is one of the few basic supplements that have had significant and consistent effect on my general well-being.

My goal of life has always been to make things simple, easy and effective. And this goal is anything but easy  :cool:

I have been intimately involved with testing nutraceuticals and supplements on myself for the last 26 years and have gradually understood their effects by trial and error, like what has worked for me, what hasn't and what has been a waste of time and money (goes for both supplements the psychology behind it). I run on DHT (not just testosterone). Two different worlds!

 

As for the vitamin D3, it has always kept my testosterone (and DHT)/libido/erections at full capacity but D3 needs help from K/A/ and very little Magnesium. K2 (in any form) has never worked for me. I have always taken the Phylloquinone K1 (100 - 200 mcg) with D3 (1000 - 3000 ius), mostly 2000, sometimes I go down to 1000 ius for a few weeks and other times go up to 3000 ius, if my output increases by a lot or if I am in Canada. 

 

I have been off of D3 for a while so many times but it's not a good feeling  :-D

 

Plus I take half a dose of a Multi called Spectro (from SOLARAY) and that takes care of the Vitamin A. They make a solid quality Phylloquinone as well.
