In a world where conformance to existing (medical) dogma’s seems to be the norm, promising progressive developments need all the support they can get.
It would be nice for myself to live beyond 100, but that’s not my entire motivation. It’s humanity as a whole that needs the increased insight and wisdom that is associated with experience. Not just to deal with the direct consequences of technological developments, but also (and probably even more important) to deal with the consequences of changing societal structure that results from it.
The pace of evolution is to slow to follow modern developments, additional growth of human potential is required. Hence the need for longer, healthier and wiser lives. And a lot of genetic diversity is needed as well. On first sight this seems to be in contradiction with human technological influence on lifespan, but it's not if done within a proper (political) context.
