With the transition to new software, to a new url and to the name 'LongeCity', the plan for 2011 is to revise the website and forum design to make it more unique and appealing.

This involves a couple of challenges, among them

1) a new 'front page' concept
2) a new logo
3) individualised forum icons
4) increasing incorporation of a 'city' theme into the design
5) revised framework for managing articles and other 'standalone' pages

The whole Art Team is invited to contribute to this effort, as are other users. We have a small budget set aside for supporting exceptional efforts and to pay for licenses.

I know a guy that works with this new social networking place called "Social Outlook". I asked him if he knew anybody he could recommend for cheap, or to volunteer to do it for the sake of the cause. He sent me a guy that he says is really good at this stuff. The guy has a company called All Aspects Technology group and does web design. I chatted with him in Skype the other day and he said he would do it because of the recommendation from the other guy, and that he was very pressed for time but that he was so good he would do it that night and by the end of the next day. I told him we would need to get it verified by the board first, otherwise he might be wasting his time. So, he might still be willing to work on some stuff. I think he is definitely worth talking to a bit more about this.

Some notes here:

1. I think we are fairly locked into this font now, I like it.
2. We need that logo there in the left side bar cleared up so its not so blurry, and moved into the banner with the name.
3. I wouldnt mind a more relaxed city theme, like maybe just some buildings in the banner and a few other places, but others may disagree. I like Alcors new banner, and it reminds me of the sort of theme Im hoping we can get here. Attached File  alcor longecity.jpg   28.67KB   10 downloads Except instead of people on the right there, some city buildings like these: Attached File  longecity buildings.jpg   22.89KB   9 downloads
4. The icons are pretty much done.
5. It seems one of the most important things is that "revised framework for articles" on the front page there. If we can make that look stylish and unique, with a tone that looks professional crossed with an activists theme, then I think that would help us tremendously.
6. Remember also, any potential volunteers on this, that the left side bar there is probably going to be coming out at some point, so I dont think that needs to be incorporated into the design.

Easy. I would rather draw something myself than use stock art though.

Anyone have a copy of the official logo in vector (.ai/.eps preferably)?
I can also setup some space on my development server (to not only test/work on the new design/etc on) so that we can interact via a project management cms so everyone can add input/work on it collectively. (like a collaboration tool + cvs) - working as a group is always better.
