Hello,

I live in Brussels, Belgium. I am ready to begin the experiment with 3 mice. Thx a lot Agevivo and Mind for your work.

It would be great to start with old mice with known age. But I know, they are not easy to find.

Dear Didierc,

Thank you for creating your logbook!
We will see with you by email for possibilities to start with aged mice in the Brussels area.
Please don't hesitate to post pictures of the place where your pets would be, etc.

Sincerely,
AgeVivo

Hi Didier, we are getting very close to starting the experiment. You will need to decide how you want to conduct the experiment. Originally we thought it would be an open experiment for everyone, where they would post progress/pictures/reports in the forums. It was suggested by some that psychological/emotional effects might come into play and entice people to end the experiment early or corrupt the experiment so we are offering 3 different options for you to choose from:

1. You conduct the experiment in private, keeping a log of feeding, health, and behavior of your rats. Your report periodically to a Longecity supervisor to let them know how everything is going. Conducting the experiment in this manner could possibly deliver more robust scientific information.

2. You keep an open log of your experiment here in the forum. You post updates and pictures, so that everyone can follow along. You remain blind as to the substance you are feeding your rats (C60 or Placebo).

3. Same as 2 except that you DO know which rats are getting which substance.

Hello Mind,

I prefer solution 1. The solutions 3 and even 2 are for me really not good because they are not blind. In theory with solution 2, you do not know what you give, but since you can compare with other people, the risk is big that you learn what you give.

Cheers,

Didier

Will we be able to see the data as it comes in from the periodic reports without actually knowing who the data came from?

Didier, we've exchanged many times but not here. I know that you are currently busy finishing your great book on Biology of Aging, in French. I'd just say please start whenever you want: buy mice and equipment at the petshop. Let us know when you are done. We can create a thread with very reduced access where you will report. Unless we find better plans by then, the default is the following: when your mice will be 10 months, they will be treated with placebo or C60 in olive oil. It is important that you report at the beginning (here or in a closed thread) so that you can be helped by people interacting based on your reporting, and perhaps correctly something it inadequate/suboptimal.
Cheers,
AgeVivo.
