This would definitely be a good study to undertake. There are alot of giant rats (humans) taking C60, some of whom haven't reproduced and may have concerns. I have a feeling C60 will benefit fertility, but it would be nice to have studies on the inter-generational effects of substances not commonly found in an organism's diet. We seem to be producing far too many diseases and creating unhealthy people.

Though I'm not sure if there is budget for genotyping or other genetic tests, but we could definitely do an observational study against the history of the parent rats.

But it stands to reason, that if it makes parents healthier and stronger, the next generation will share those benefits and the effects of those benefits. There is anecdotal evidence that men's T goes way up when taking C60 and that's generally a good thing for reproductive health.

If I were you would have two groups MIXED gender animals. One control and one fed on C60-oo. By letting them multiply, we could see the interference of C60 with genes. The baby rats will be the first parents fed C60 rats on the planet.

to all: this is creveterbell's logbook, so discussions here should concern her ratties.
If you want to discuss others topics, please use more appropriate threads. Thank you!

Wow impressively clever! although fighting behaviors, mating behaviors and pregnancy would affect lifespan in a random manner that is unlikely to be randomly similar between the two cages. But wow: I'm going to think again about this impressive out of the box proposal.

Ok, crevetterbelle is clear about it: no (mixing the cages would generate huge disturbances).

Yes it's not possible for me to organise cages with two gender in, because, I have to chose my breeding females and males, so many ratties are brothers and sisters, with their mother/father.
In French : L'espèce Rat est trop prolifique, trop de naissances a gérer alors, et aucune sélection ...
Je ne veux pas gérer ça, ni ne peut.

To avoid inbreeding, buy another rat. Just one, regardless of gender.

The inbreeding it's not my problem, the big one is that my rats are not babies machines.
My kennel is not a profit, I occasionally born ratties for my pleasure, born of a selection that seems important for me. Add the unknown and unmanaged manner is not possible, too many drawbacks emerge

Do you breed for color or anything like that? How did you get started with keeping rats as pets? Tell us your story!

I test the procedure, yesterday in the morning.... That takes 1 morning to give kitchen olive oil at my 20 rats ....
I test again two sunday. I think that I have to change one cage a day, the other an other day.
I test with bread, with bledine ( http://media.telemar...00924606-t0.jpg), and directly with syringe. For the moment directly and bledine is more easy for my males, on bread for my females.
Pictures the next time.

I breed the first for the heart, my attachment with a particular rat.
I plan to actually born ratties with a phenotypic diversity, but the first goal is mainly to reproduce rats with rather good health (rats are very fragile ..) and having a nice behavior with human .

My first 2 rats I got when I was 13 years old, I stop some time after their death, then took over in October 2010 and that is where I create my "large group" in order to the "study" as a reconciliation of society as in nature. Rat is gregarious, group of 2 we not see that they are bored, however, who had a group of 10 male and 20 (14 females max at home), we see that there are more interactivity has two, and they are more fulfilled. It's why that currently I am 31 rats at home.
However, I will reduce my troop, 15 individuals. For a next move.
so I have rats for 8 years, soon 9 !

Wonderful! We are following your progress and are awaiting for the treatment to start. It seems more normal to use the same feeding technique (bread or directly pipette) for the two genders.

by bad, she has started feeding them with oilve oil (injected in bread balls) to see how manageable it is. She feels she needs to try it again on March 30th, and then she will start the real experiment on April 13th. Ouranos is ill.

Sorry to hear about Ouranos. I don't understand why Crevetterbelle wants to wait until the thirteenth. Why not start sooner?

I'm waiting because with my job it's not possible for me to organize the preparation for my rats, one by one. With the oo I can train to do it quickly and well, I improved my technique soaked bread product. At this time I do between 50 and 60 hours of work per week because of my two jobs.
The time I got to make me to my new schedule to avoid making stupid things with the protocol.

Ouranos is ill, Just an abscess and the age, Almost the entire Ouranos family's died of breathing problem, or respiratory tumors. There are only Ouranos and Demetra home. Compared to the family pet rats after and probably inbred (brothers / sisters) my two ratties are very old ..

It's not a problem for me :
My work :
Polyvalent employee in a supermarket : I'm cashier and I also put products in The shelves in the morning. ( 37hours per week)
I am also self-entrepreneur : my hammock shop for pets (http://lasiestechezlestaratboostes.fr) ( 15 or 20 hours per week )
And I take care of my rats too ^ ^

And my pseudonym is : Crevetterebelle not creveterbelle, just a typo in the topic title can't correct my fault x)

I fixed it for you, Crevetterebelle. You're doing something very important for us, and maybe for the whole world, so the least we could do is get your name right!

For the moment I have no time for a cat/smalldogs collection. But I have already make baskets for a big dog and small for cat.
But it's a good idea that I also have.

Should the days are lengthened so that I can do everything what I think! x)

M1 - Ouranos - 28month -

https://fbcdn-sphoto...051338146_n.jpg

On April 3rd Ouranos died at the age of 30 months.
He was old and sick (not simply 'aged') and was brought to the veterinary for his last day.
At least compared to many rats he had the chance to reach that age while living in a very nice environment.
I think it's time for other rats to start the real treatment.

Hi !

Crevetterbelle, I was discussing with others here, we understand it is difficult and our hearts go to you.
We understand that you have a serious disease in your colony, with quite some deaths, that it is really not a lot of fun, that you give them treatments... Yes, let's wait for the stabilisation of your colony, and at least two more weeks to start the procedure based on the colony that will then be available. It will be good to know what animals were lightly/largely/severaly affected by the disease and to know which ones took treatments (all I guess), to try to equilibrate groups. If the observed effects are big (as we hope; we don't can't be sure of course) then it will still have a good scientific value.
We are with you, All the best. Cheers,
AgeVivo.

Crevetterebelle, I am so sorry to hear of this. I hope you and the rats will be better soon.

Did the rats have any c60-oo before the colony got sick? If so, we really should look at the outcome of the infection as a function of treatment group.
