So I live in the U.S. and I want to know how likely (and what would be the consequences) if I try to order certain nootropics into the country. I'm very hesitant to do so until I have more information, I know they (border patrol) tend to look for other types of drugs such as cocaine, meth, etc more so over things that they may have never even heard of, or let say someone was trying to bring in Amoxicillin (common antibiotic). I remember when the silk road was still open and my roommate had order ecstasy for god's sake and it showed up to our door no problem and that in itself was more "serious" because its viewed as a recreational drug. I am trying to order Modafinil or Armodifinil because currently the only version that is legal in this country is Adrafinil and I have used it for quite some time, but its just not that effective. I even did a quick research and found a blog that offered a couple of "legit" sites that are safe to order from in that you will get a good quality Modafinil/Armodifinil and he has ordered from them multiple times. While that does make me feel a bit more relaxed, I would still like to hear from more on here who have any more knowledge on the subject or even any personal experience ordering nootropics/supplements considered to be illegal who did not have any legal issues after. Looking forward to any help.

Thank You

It's customs that will potentially grab your package, not border patrol.

And the answer is, if it is a shipper that is on their radar (especially someone that is also shipping recreational drugs) then there is a decent chance they will inspect those packages.  If not, you're probably good to go.

And as long as we're talking nootropics and not controlled substances, I think you have a legal right to import something like a 3 month supply.

I would have to find the site again, but I am pretty sure it only sells things like modafinial and armodfinil, but the problem is, even if the site doesn't sell other recreational drugs, those two I just named are illegal here (at least without a prescription).

Both those drugs are available in the U.S. by prescription.  They are controlled substances (schedule IV) so yes, your package might get nabbed by customs.

How likely?  I have no idea.  Ask the seller how often their packages get seized and what they will do for you if that occurs.

I've ordered modafinial multiples times in the past. Came in boxes with modafinial on the boxes. Never had an issue.

Things I have ordered over the years included:

multiple types or prescription sleeping pills

modafinial

prescription pain killers (for very real pain, not because I am an addict)

anti-depressants with off label use as sleeping pills (I am an insomniac)

antibiotics

avodart (for thining hairline)

Other stuff I am not remembering

Never one issue with customs. All  my orders came in packages clearly stating what they are.

Heck, one time in Mexico at an airport, I walked into what turned out to be a pharmacy not knowing what it was. I came out with 2 bottles of prescription pain pills. Put them in my carry on. Got back to the USA and sailed through customs after the obligatory look and see at what I am bringing back. Ironically I had a brownie that they questioned me about and I threw it in the garbage.

I appreciate that, I hadn't thought about that, I guess I could try getting a hold of the seller and see what he says. Thank You

Your response was really good actually, I am glad you have so many examples to go off of because on a separate note I had always wanted to order certain other things as well such as basic anti-biotics such as amoxicillin which you can just buy OTC in other countries. I am assuming that you ordered all those things from various sites right? there wasn't just one site that sold everything correct? I am close to making a decision, naturally I am still a little hesitant, even though you never had any issues and I feel like I wont either for what I want to order, do you have any idea what what might happen should customs get a hold of my package. I realize the penalty can be different depending on the package, so lets just say modafinil, would it just be a fine I have to pay and if so how much? And ya, it doesn't surprise me that they would be more worried about a brownie lol. I appreciate your help, Thank You.

Penalty? What penalty? If the law finds something on a banned list being mailed to you, you will get a letter that your package has been intercepted and you will not be getting it. End of story.

If what you are having shipped is something like cocaine or meth, then yeah, you might be hauled into a room to be questioned, but ultimately there is no way for a innocent person to prevent a slime ball from another country mailing you something illegal in the mail. Do you know what I mean? They need proof you ordered the "bad" thing to do anything to you. Its a VERY VERY big deal to arrest someone and for a district attorney to spend weeks and months putting together a case for a jury trial.

You ain't going to a jury trial for ordering "moda" or any other prescription medication.

That's why, without proof you bought the illegal thing, if they catch it in the mail, all you will get is a letter from the federal government. Even if they spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to investigate you having "moda" sent to you, its still a VERY big deal to take a person to a jury trial. Will never happen.

Even things like anabolic steroids, if caught in the mail, you just get a letter.

People go to trial for distribution of illegal things or for being caught with very bad things like coke and meth.

If you are having 25 bottles of something sent to you, then you may get accused of attempting to distribute. But a couple of bottles.... nothing will happen to you.

Thank you, your response really helped me make up my mind, I guess in terms of proof they could somehow force my internet provider to give them any information they might need (if they even need the internet service provider, maybe bypass them, I dont know) like my emails or whatever, but like you said, I'm guessing it would take a LOT of work, and would be very time consuming on their part. I think I'll give it a try one time and see how that goes, and if all good, then maybe more in the future if I need too. Thank you again, that helped clear things up, I appreciate it.

Somewhat interesting thread.

So here I am wanting to know websites to get modafinil in case it's dirt cheap - I'm rooted in South America fer godsakes.

Anyone wouldn't mind sharing *TRUSTWORTHY SITES THEY'VE USED* and know they sell good, legit noots?

And even better, anyone who has the SOP, standard operating procedure, on how to synthesize legit moda or another top/expensive noot through non-controlled/easy to obtain substances?

I got how to produce pir and some other racetams, but Pir's the better if them and it's inexpensive enough to make synthesizing it a waste of resources. I'm crazy for the DIY way. So interesting, usually a millionth of the end cost, so empowering, so independent, so MacGuyver. And useful after TEOTWAWKI.

Need desperately to cram stuff fast and learn things I just don't really love to move on with medschool - which I do love.
