I guess the words "SENS and Mprize" could also be links to explanations of the two things, and maybe there could be an additional link to why we promote both.

I guess we could have a little thing next to the SENS button highlighting that only those (and "you decide") get matched.

I think if these were to be implemented, the probability of misunderstandings would be greatly reduced.

Perhaps rather than have "SENS" and "Mprize" themselves as links there could be "(more info...)", "(what's this?)" etc. links in parentheses after the "SENS" and "Mprize" words.
Also after SENS one would include some kind of notification that the matching challenge applies ONLY to that one. (Maybe in red as to stick out from the body of text).

These are of course only subjective preferences, and whatever the implementation I think the above ideas itself would help.

Duke, I currently count **four** places on the home page and **four more** on the Donate page where the matching grant is mentioned, and in **every single one** it specifies "SENS" or "Research" or both. How can you be confused by that?

The logo on the header states only the word "research". So to people who have no idea of specifics of SENS and Mprize it might easily mean both, as there is nothing to imply that Mprize would not include research. Of course if one would read the first paragraph it would be somewhat clearer that the match is only for SENS, but it can't be assumed that people read all of that. So either fixing the logo or adding the little text next to choices that get matched as stated previously would help. Preferably both.

I see Ceth already covered it, but I'll add too: I have no idea what "research" means. Is that suppose to mean "MPrize" research?

Seriously, the "curse of knowledge" runs deep on this site, and in the minds of those who put it together.

I'm reminded of the new show, Kitchen Nightmares, where Chef Ramsey goes into restaurants that are failing, and always has to fight chefs and owners who think they are doing things right and that the reason they are failing is external circumstances (not their own doing). And yet, simple marketing, menu and management changes by Ramsey always fixes the restaurant, usually with heavy resistance from the chef and owner, until they finally can't argue with the results: A packed dining room.

Okay, I'm convinced. Tripling my benefit is a pretty good number. I've never gotten a receipt for my donations to the M-Prize, but 3x the input might be worth it.

Michael Cooper's $25k was met, and Doug Arends is now offering another $25k Challenge until 12/31/07.
