Superoxide dismutase effectiveness and bioavailability SOD is an enzyme naturally occurring in body and is considered one of the most important antioxidants, according to Dr. Mark Rosenberg because it protects cells against the cell-damaging free radical superoxide. With aging the amount of SOD in body decreases thus protection from oxidative damage destroying mitochondria and so on. SOD can be produced in body with help of vitamin C, zinc, copper and manganese or gotten foods such melons, germinated wheat, green vegetables. One website claims spirulina is great source of superoxide dismutase. Although almost no SOD enters bloodstream due stomach acid destroying it. So it is combined with wheat protein gliadin to be bioavailable. There ready expensive pills on Ebay although I want to try spirulina tablets and wanted to ask if there is DIY method to give them protection from gut ravages? Is SOD worth attention as antiaging solution?
