Glycine looks like great stuff from a bone health, muscle / skin / tendon health, and cardiovascular health stance.

However, I'm curious about any potential cancer risks.  I've seen a few articles mention that it supports tumorigenesis and malignancy and fuels growth.  Would it make sense to take something like 5-10 grams per day, or is it worth approaching with more caution?

It looks like glycine will promote/feed tumor growth once it is present, but it won't favor or disfavor cancer showing up.

Switching to a specialized diet to treat cancer sounds like an exciting solution. The researchers will now have to prove that their findings will also apply to human cancer.

I have been using ALBION calcium and Magnesium with glycine. Well I have been using the magnesium lysinate glycinate but am going to switch to the mag glycinate. I have decided to since it may help support copper absorption and I take copper 1 niacin. I love copper 1 niacin and recommend sticking it out with it if you try it and at higher doses than recommended at first, or following directions. I am a large man though, twice the muscle/. bone mass of an average man. It gives me such good energy. Really noticeable when out walking. Great for everything imho if everything else is adequate.

Glycine is the most common amino acid in the average diet. It's very safe.

I might consider glycine restriction if you already had cancer, but for those of us without fixed-named disease, I wouldn't worry about it.

I take 10 grams at night to aid methylation. I also take collogen in the morning.

thats interesting. not like anyone knows if they have tumor or cancer going in their body if they start supplementing this. so basically, its wiser to not start at all unless you are in your 20s and know for sure you are safe.  i mean there is no test to say you might be developing cancer soon, how the hell does one know?? if glycine promotes cancer, then its not good at all. isnt that basic logic though??

Glycine is an essential amino acid, and is present in significant quantities in everyday proteins. It doesn't "promote cancer."

A diet and supplement program to fight cancer is *much* different from one to prevent it and live a long life. Personally, I long-ago gave up on the idea of *ever* knowing that I'm safe for sure. I just do the best I can with the information I have at the time....
