Years and years ago bodybuilders always used a drug called Cytadren the last few weeks before a contest. The body is under extreme stress from a caloric deficit and dangerously low levels of body fat. Cytadren is an anti estrogen but was used mainly for its adrenocortical inhibiting properties. I was curious what happened to it and I did a quick search and it seems there are only 2 adrenocortical inhibitors that exist.
Cytadren (aminoglutethimide)
Metopirone (metyrapone)
I noticed a lot of discussions on this forum about ways to reduce cortisol and these inhibitors seem to come with a host of side effects but what I find odd is there only 2 medications made. I can’t think of any other drug out there where only 2 brands exist.
